Whenever I hear the name Raul Allegre its brings back this memory. IN SB XXI Giants vs Broncos one of my buddies was in this $100 pool - winner takes all ($10,000) .
His numbers were 0-0 . Allegre hadn't missed an XP in like forever and he missed one on the Giants last TD in the 4th qtr , the score ended up 39-20.

I wasn't around when Pat Leahy was kicking but from his numbers and how long he played with us i would have to say him but for my time i would go with John Hall. He kicked some big clutch kicks. Feely isn't to bad either.

Leahy for best kicker in franchise history, but I'm definitely going with Hall on most badass kicker. That dude loved to get in on kick coverage.

My gut said Turner because he's the only one that has won a SB plus as pointed out he was instrumental in helping the Jets get to and win the SB.

Can't believe nobody said Nick Lowery who might not have been his best with the Jets but he was arguably the greatest kicker to ever play for the Jets.

I would think Jason Stuarkovsky was the worst though....he was awful. (The older guys may not even remember him) I wanna say 92 or 93. I know he was during the Coslet error and was replaced by Cary Blancahrd who sucked with us but was great with the Colts.

Jim Turner. He scored 145 points in 68. Straight ahead kicker, too.

Hall was just the man, loved watching him make tackles.

Lowery crossed my mind, but he wasn't with us long enough. IIRC, 3 seasons and his last one wasn't great. Not that anyone was great that year. Still, it paved the way for John Hall...who wasn't any better at first.

Feely has been decent so far. He kicked two FGs of 50 plus last season. But the problem I have with him is he can't kick the long FG. I have seen us passing up on kicking 53 yarders several times and that shows how much trust Westhoff has in him.

In his streak of 24(?) straight FGs, he had a 55 yarder, a 47 yarder and a 42 yarder. Besides these 3 FGs, he doesn't have another FG in the 40s or above. Not that its his fault, but if you are asked to kick 3 FGs of 42 or longer and the rest to be less than 40 yards, you better be making that record. I don't find that to be a big deal, but its still decent.

Nick Lowery was a great kicker but not for the Jets. Leahy was the first name that came to mind but even he went through some rough patches during his career. I remember him missing a chip shot against the Pats that cost us the game. Patriots LB Steve Nelson classlessly patted him on the helmet and mocked him after he missed the kick. I think it was then that the seeds of hatred against the Pats were planted for me.

If we're just throwing names out there then what about Tony Meola?

Good call on Jim Turner. I completely blanked on him.

Pat Leahy based on longevity but he was not a good K. I think John Hall was better and Jay feeley is having the best season for a Jets K I have seen.

Leahy, and I'll tell you why. 18 years without a blocked kick. You can't say that's all line there, not over that length of time.

He and Curly Johnson were probably the best kickoff guys we ever had...
