This guy hasn’t had a winning season yet and he’s the greatest GM we have had? He’s done a good job the last couple of drafts but if Saleh and company can’t translate these moves into victories then JD has to be called out for the CS he put together. For now I’m just going to enjoy the process until the season starts.
The truth is we had a very good draft on paper. We got some serious help from lady luck, but we were due some. The other truth is on draft weekend we assume everyone we took is already a pro bowler and top NFL player.
I was upset we didn't get Dan Falafel. Ravens tried to take guys we would want with Linderbaum which I was ok with, but I wanted that OT. Max Mitchell I will be rooting for you, we need that versatile tackle. Clemons seems like a gamble with his off the field issues, hopefully he changes his tune.
Well it is a little bit more fun that way, better than thinking they will not make the grade anyway lol On another point, what would this board have said if we had drafted another QB a year after drafting one in the top 15? I see the Pats took Zappe which is a fucker because I'd liked to have seen him do well but, of course, now he is dead to me.
Don't count Zappe out down the road. BB always likes to develop his backups rather than sign vets. Zappe could be the next Cassel or Garappolo, where he fills in when Jones is hurt, and then trades them for more than he paid.
The bottom line is the results haven't been there on the field. Until they come, we can't make this declaration. I hope when his tenure comes to an end, it turns out to be true.
imo, this is perfect... https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33833640/new-york-jets-brass-downplays-uncommon-praise-nfl-draft-class Saleh "It doesn't matter. We've got to develop these young men. They have to come in and they have to perform. We'll know in about three years."
Here's the thing. I get the wins haven't been there and it's been a very ugly road to get to this point for all of us. With that said... These last two off-seasons have truly inspired confidence for me towards this Front Office and HC. I'm not sure I've ever truly seen a sound plan come together I'm this fashion. Usually I'm left wondering what the plan actually is.. I now look at this team. The way it was constructed. You can see the layers that have been implemented and established. We had the process of finding the right CS, then the foundation was laid down with the OL/DL/QB, then JD and Co. went out and got some solid weapons for this team on both sides of the ball this off-season. You could see the plan come together In every phase and JD didn't just sit on his hands either. There were some obvious fails that occured, missing out on Hill, Cooper, Samuels, etc... That didn't matter though. JD still found a way to make sure we had an impact player for our young QB. Now if you look at this roster. It's the first time In forever that I am looking at this roster and having a hard time finding a true weakness. Everything has been significantly upgrades on this team, on paper. Usually we could blindly point to almost every position on this team and proclaim we suck there. I can't do that right now. ..and it feels fucking amazing. Results do need to follow but I'm beyond impressed with everything considered. I'm finally excited for a season of Jets football and the future of this team. I finally feel confident In the GM and HC. That Is beyond rare. Let's go JETS!!!
I'd rather wait until it's all said and done, let's be honest. He did make this draft and last years draft fun to watch. It all comes down to how good the team becomes with these building blocks in the end. And that's way too early to tell.
Love Joe Douglas. Cool interview with Rich Eisen. On top of having an amazing offseason top to bottom all things considered, he's a likeable guy:
This is a really good post. The plan, the process, the vision and the implementation has all been professionally done. It is obvious we have smart people running the organization. This in no way guarantees success it just improves our odds of success and gives hope. I have not seen a young team as promising as this since the 1978 team. Hopefully, we will have a turn around season like 78.
I really think the 2020 draft was more on gase. JD seems to really value input for his CS to give them the pieces they want. Sauce and JJ were saleh picks, and hall was a MLF pick.
