Never dreamed of a draft like tonight. Collectively, we got tremendous value and added depth at positions of need. Well done.
To be fair Idzik and Gase set us back for a decade with the lack of talent everywhere, these past few drafts we had to build foundation and weapons
I agree overall about Parcells, but Anthony Becht cannot in good conscience belong on a list of things Parcells did right. Just because the Jets consistently draft dreck does not make Becht a good pick in round 1.
JD is learning quickly about drafting and that's good. JD's record is 6-27 as GM. That is not so good. At the end of the day, its how his plan comes together and you measure that in the win/loss column. He's the best GM we've had in a long long time from the tactical POV. His moves have to translate into wins though.. The upside is that all of his drafts have improved as time progressed. Arrow is pointing up!
I don't think his drafts have improved. I think the number of high picks he has made has been unusual due to his tendency to bundle picks to move up. I think right now Joe Douglas is probably one of the worst GM's in Jet history and if we weren't so obsessed with Fantasy Football that would be clear. 6-27.
I need to see some wins He's better than Idzik and Mac ..right? Almost gave Brads post above a like I am so disgusted with this Team the last 10 years but it's too depressing to even consider JD is really bad....sigh
He's more exciting than either Idzik or Maccagnan. So far the record says he's worse than both of them. Idzik 12-20 Maccagnan 25-39 Douglas 13-36 The Jets are 50-95 over the three regimes. They were 14-18 in the last two years of the Tannenbaum regime for a total of 64-113 since the last time they made the playoffs.
The absurd amount of picks we got for Darnold + Adams ends this year so let's see what he does when we don't have all the ammo. I like what he did last year and I like what he has done thus far this draft. We still need Becton to hit + Zach to be that guy. If he isn't, JDs seat is going to be scorching hot next offseason.
JD hitched his wagon to Zach Wilson If Wilson ends up as a bust yesterday will not keep JD employed with this team.
My biggest knock against Zach is his acccuracy issues My hope is the OSU Wilson and our new FA Tight Ends can catch his screw balls and speed balls. We already know Elijah M and Berrios can do that even Corey Davis. So Zach has a very good supporting cast. The Defense with Sauce and JJ keeps us in games and not down 2 scores by 4th quarter...so that's good too Yes Wilson has to succeed at FQB or else JDs regime is a failure imo
You had me doubting myself. Then I looked back at his drafts. '98 was very very bad. Almost epically bad. Look, I loved Parcells. His FA signings were great. REALLY great. But we're talking about drafts right now in this thread, and the guy who took Dorian Boose, Rick Terry, Scott Frost (out of position) and others with HIGH picks, does not get to be considered to be a great Jet's draft GM. You can, but I can't.
