That’s a solid draft. I’d take Davonte Smith and Kyle Pitts along with a boatload of picks any day over Zac Wilson the only problem is that he has Atlanta taking Fields and if that were to happen Matt Ryan would be going to SF 100% to realign him with Shanny
That would certainly be two great signings and a great future haul too. What are the 2022 and 2023 Q/B classes looking like?
This mock would give the Jets weapons for any veteran QB to come in here and succeed next season + picks galore to move up next season. I'd still take Wilson at 2 but that haul is something to drool over, especially if they pair it with Godwin. Smith/Mims/Godwin/Crowder at WR and Pitts and Herndon at TE is drool worthy.
I don’t know if I like it. It’s so easy to get hyped with tons of draft picks but guess what? You’ll end up trading most of them back just to move up and get a QB in 2022 most likely. Is there really a net gain with that? The Jets have 9 picks in the top 100 over the next 2 years, and possibly 1 more if Darnold is traded. Do you really need more than that?
I'm not sure about Devonta Smith being the pick, mainly because I haven't spent any time looking at anything much beyond QB so far, but I'd be okay with this first round if it produced a great WR and TE. And stocking up on premium picks isn't sexy but it's been successful for a lot of teams, so I can't say I love this draft, I wouldn't cry over it.
I think this is definitely a fair question. Part of the answer to it is how good does anyone think the 2022 QB will be? And of course at this point, especially with the Covid impact, it's even harder to predict. This may be a time where "A bird in hand is worth two in the bush" is really the way to go.
It all depends if Etienne will be there with Seattle's pick. I can definitely see us grabbing one of the big 4 WRs this offseason (Godwin, Golladay, Arob, JuJu)
There are 3 highly touted prospects with various traits. I just have a very hard time believing that the Jets brass and new coach won’t be in on at least 1. Not including Lawrence I mean.
This is a silly hypothetical as it’s too much of a haul for the Jets with both # of picks they get back and who is mocked to them - Pitts at 27... not happening. Also If Wilson ends up being that impressive that SF feels it’s worth trading all these picks, then the Jets should just take him... I say this and I don’t even want a qb with pick#2.
I think there are great Backs who could be had without splurging on Etienne. That’s also a huge luxury I think. The premium positions have to be addressed first I believe.
I love Davonte Smith he’s the best route runner in the draft and gets separation period. Reminds me of AB in his prime.
Would be thrillled beyond words.Pitts will not last this long however. Also Lance going to Pats would truly suck
