In their rookie years against HoF WRs? lol And again, they arent the best right now. But he was saying that he thinks they will be in the future... If you think you have help over the top, you are going to play under the WR, and bracket him. If there isnt help over top, that WR is gone...
We could have a paraplegic midget starting opposite Revis and we would still have a better tandem than the Dolphins.
how many hof wr's did u play last year...i count reggie wayne, andre johnson and moss twice... the werent up against jerry rice every week... they often played teams with only decent wr's... nothing too spectacular there.
But the Phins CBs can get picked as the best on sheer potential? Cromartie having a great 2007 has more weight than the possibility of Davis/Smith having a great future year.
There's no doubt the Fins have a great young tandem at CB but no fucking way anyone could, right now, say they are better than Revis/Cro. As for the Bengals, above avg players but not ready to bestow them as 'the best'. The NYJ has the #1 pass defense in the NFL and upgraded at CB.....
Pettine has said one of the reasons why Cromartie's stats may have fallen over the past few years is that a newer player gets more passes thrown in his direction because they don't know much about him - so Cro had more opportunities. After Cro did so well they shied away from him. Now, with Revis on the other side, expect Cro to get a lot more passes thrown in his direction. He's gonna be busy this year. Toss in the fact Cro will be playing Man and not Zone and it is downright scary what he's gonna do.
The Bengals I can understand, Joseph and Hall are both very good. The Dolphins though? The fuck? They ranked 24th in the league last year against the pass - 234.6 ypg.. Sean Smith had 12 passes defended, and 0 INT. Vontae Davis had a better year with 11 passes defended and 4 INT.. Potential or not, Muhammed is a retard.
I don't mind Woodson's pick. Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph are elite cornerbacks. They aren't on the same level as Darrelle Revis, but they are both damn good players. Antonio Cromartie has to prove himself again. If he plays well for the Jets, then we'll most definitely have the best cornerback tandem. For now though, the Bengals have TWO corners that have been consistently good for a few years. Everyone in the world knows that Revis is the best corner in the game, but Cromartie is nothing more than a question mark at this point.
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-netwo...n-Cornerback-Tandems-Deion-Sanders-and-anyone Watch that, and then replace Deion with Revis.... and Revis tackles.
I agree entirely with this. Only thing you left out is how some dipshit could pick the Dolphins over the Jets. That's hardly an educated statement....
They also went against T.O. last year twice, another HoFer. Plus Pro Bowlers Roddy White, Colston, Vincent Jackson, Steve Smith, Ward, and your boy And SB MVP Santonio.
But you guys were ranked TWENTY FORTH in pass defense, whereas we were ranked NUMBER ONE. Say all you want, but that won't change the fact that our pass defense is still way better than yours.
exactly... and the jets and fins had just about the same schedule except for 2 teams and the jets were number 1 even without cro... even if he is a question mark he wont make the defense any worse... when you add an all pro to the number 1 pass d how the hell is that pair of db's not #1
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/09000d5d81841a01/Film-Study-A-Team here is the video of it... warning: it is extremely hard to watch... not because it is wrong but because of the sheer stupidity of the "a-team" theme.
The difference I think is our defensive scheme will make our CB's the best. Our front 7 will give tremendous opportunities to our DB's that other teams won't have. Combine that with the talent of Revis, Cromartie, and Wilson and it is just downright scary. The only thing I'm worried about is what Pettine said: In 2009 the NFL was surprised by us. Right now in the off-season every NFL team is looking hard at the Jets figuring out what we did and how to copycat it and NFL offenses are figuring out how to beat it. We're in for a rough ride, but I also think our coaches will do a good job of staying 1 step ahead and never resting to improve.
they can study revis all they want he is still the best... people have been studying manning his entire career and he still destroys defense... film study cant stop sheer talent.
Again, the way Mush came off, it more seemed like his favorite tandem than the best currently, even though that was the question posed...
