Vedvik is absolute trash. He's not the answer at kicker. But can't complain since it's a free pickup. But we're at the bottom of the barrel here

Good question. We will never know. I never had complete faith in Myers, but he clearly is better than what the Jets have had this year since they let him walk in March.
After 1 good year. 4 years 15.45 million for an unproven kicker...I think a lot of GM's would've just walked away from that. Who knows what Douglas would've done Nobody here was a fan of Folk, Catanzaro, and Myers when we brought all 3 in, but all 3 were good for us.
Clearly don't know much about Vedvik, but I seem to recall a few members here were strongly supporting bringing him in as a top choice before Minnesota traded for him. I sincerely hope they were dead right
If Ficken is still available I'd like to see the Jets pick him up too. I don't think anyone has a "lock" on the kicking job yet.
The contract isn't really the issue, as usual its the guaranteed money and no team is offering every down key position player type guarantees for a kicker. They should have signed him and if he crapped out they could have just cut him with little loss. It was yet another dumb Mac move.
