Texans and Saints had opposite endings both in favor of us. Gotta love it.

If either Denver or Oakland loses, we control our own destiny. Sick.

Assuming Oakland loses, which they should, what is the minimum amount of games the jets need to win for a playoff berth?

They control their own destiny, meaning if they win out they make the playoffs. However, I'm sure their are scenarios where the Jets could win 2/3 and still make the playoffs but it would involve a lot of other teams losing again.

History shows that us controlling our own destiny isn't necessarily a good thing....especially with a few weeks left to go. More often than not we find a way to sh*t the bed to create more drama for the rest of the season. Maybe they'll break away from that trend this year.

This magical run just NEVER ends under Rex Ryan. Everythings been going our way for 3 straight seasons now. I felt confident that these teams would fall and thats exactly whats happened.

This is great, because now the Bengals have the same conference record,

Seriously? We made it to the AFCCG two years running, control our own destiny for the playoffs this year and all you come up with is, "They'll probably shit the bed?"

"Fuck that, the best place to be is when expectations are high!"

If we go 2/3, one of the wins needs to be against miami.
Oakland needs to lose twice (not marking today as L yet) more or Denver twice more.
Titans need to lose one more.
Bengals can be 10-6 with us and we have the tiebreaker at 10-6.
So we only have the tiebreaker with Cincy at 10-6.

This is what I gathered with messing with the playoff generator on yahoo.

I'm not down on the team....this was a big win today.

But...if you look at almost every playoff run we've had, there is almost always an inexplicable loss...including the past two years. 2009: Falcons. 2010: Dolphins (and to a lesser degree Bears). If I recall correctly, we had control of our own destiny in both years. Don't lose to the Eagles or Giants (even though those aren't easy games) and break the trend. Great teams finish strong.....that is all I want to see.

If Chicago wins today I don't think I can be happier with how this week turned out. I mean it would have been nice to see Washington pull one out like it looked like they would against the pats but still what a week for the Jets.

(I am chalking up a Oakland loss)

    It's this simple:

We have the tie breaker against Cincy (assuming a loss is NOT against MIA), and do not have it against anyone else. We need to finish above Oak and Ten, and at least tie with Cincy.

We are one up on Cincy, Oak, and Ten

    TEN plays @IND, JAX, @HOU
    CIN plays @STL, AZ, BAL
    OAK plays DET, @KC, SD

I'm cautiously optimistic that 10-6 would get us in.

That will suck since they have Indy and Jacksonville left and Houston in week 17 who already clinched.

Oakland and Denver can both lose today and they have Detroit and New England next week, Cincinnati doesn't matter for now, but they don't really have a tough game left either, unless Baltimore want's the 1 seed.

It's exciting but scary because as of now we have the toughest schedule, with the Eagles with Vick back, running QB's give us fits. The Giants have a pass rush and they will wan't to destroy us and they are fighting for a playoff spot, and Miami has been playing better and they hate us as well. The others have one game each against a strong opponent and two of them are the last week were starters will be rested for the tougher teams. I really think we need to win out.
