The Dolphins could end up being a good trade partner at 3 or 4. Would be worthwhile for them to come up and grab Sewell at the cost of an extra 2nd if they feel the Jets might take him. The bidding war for #2 could end up being for the franchise LT instead of the QB.
The Jets would have to be insane to trade with the Dolphins so they could land Sewell. The guy would be kicking the shit out of Q. Williams for the next 5-10 years... F the dolphins... go let them wait + draft some bust when their pick comes up.
I generally agree with not helping your rivals haha. I'd much rather take Sewell and bully them for the next 10 years with Becton/Sewell, but we have a lot of holes, so extra draft capital won't hurt if JD wants to go a different direction. I can't see the Jets passing on Sewell unless they trade out. When it comes to drafting, I'm pretty risk averse, especially in those early rounds. I've seen way too many boom or bust types, bust really hard. If there's a sure thing on the board, you take it and run with it unless you're confident they'll be available later.
I definitely think it is unlikely the Jets let two Polynesians dominate them for the next decade but i guess anything is possible. Would take a hell of a lot more than a 2nd round pick for me to let the Fins draft Sewell. Probably take the 4 plus that pick plus the 1st and 2nd next year.
If Wilson explodes, i'd expect teams to trade up for him. Teams will move up for Swewll too. If it gives us another 2nd to swap with Cincy, you do it. If we are keeping Sam, we have a ton of options.
If Jets sign a quality guard in off season and draft Sewell, they would be on the verge of having a 90s Cowboys offensive line going into next year, but Jet fans don’t want that, they want to trade back and get a tier two player that’s going to need a year or two to develop so they can trash him for not contributing to team and want JD fired as well.
Lighten up Francis, we can still get a WR with the second first rounder. Mims and Crowder are not terrible receivers.
