Not only was Graham our punter - he was also the holder on the FG team. That's every bit as important as his punting duties. This isn't as simple as just cutting him lose as a punter. He had various responsibilities.
Well there has been posts blaming him for our fg kickers errors. I have not done any research into the matter but I am stating it. We really need a punter who can kick more than 25-30 yards though................
During preseason I remember reading that Brad Smith had been doing some holding for placekicking. It's really not that hard of a job and an athlete like Smith should have no problem doing it.
so true, good riddance, almost anyone would be better, he was incredibly inconsistent and screwed us more than peeople realize
I don't think we should be worried about fakes. I think Graham only had one, and that might have been preseason.
Great move--I am gaining more and more confidence in this team as the days go on. This is an A1 coaching move. I'd be surprised if its not Kapinos.
I think most punters can hold for a FG, or one of our backup QBs. The horrible field position situations he has put us in for the past two games have been inexcusable. I honestly can't think of ONE good punt.
Just get a punter punter... not some experiment guy... get some guy that punted before and can just punt average.. kick it really high and in the middle of the field.
Fake punts are not the main reason teams usually have a backup QB holding for placekicks. It is more about having a backup plan in the event of a bad snap. You want a guy that at least has a chance to make a downfield completion.
Brett Favre has been a placeholder on field goals and extra points. How often he did it, I don't know. He held for Chris Jacke in the 1992 Bengals-Packers game. Yep, sure did. And good riddance to Graham.
