Taking a year off in the middle of the career was very questionable. Signing the biggest deal he could find with a bad team was very questionable. Now Bell is 28 years old in a job that generally only goes to 29 before the wheels start to fall off. I'm not saying he has no chance to recover his form but it has been nearly 4 years since he was any good and that is an NFL eternity.
I've been banging this drum since we signed him in response to everyone who kept saying "we have a top 5 runningback how is he not producing!!!!!" The fact of the matter is that a runningback is very seldom going to be able to go 21 months in between games without injury and an NFL regulated training program and return to form. It's the same reason why no one should count on anything from Mosely next year. The only position I could see returning to form is positions that do not require a lot of speed or quick feet (defensive tackle/interior offensive lineman).
Indeed, we must get rid of Mosley next season before his bumper year becomes valid, there is no way he is going to come back and play hard after nearly 2 full seasons without a game. He has become a bag securer as is the norm for our expensive FA signings.
Is criticism of a player ever negated by the counter argument that the player is rich and doesn’t care what you think? The fact that enough athletes have shown significant sensitivity to fan criticism would dispute that idea, if so.
When he's on the field which isn't very often. Bell signed with a team loaded with talent and should not have expected anything other than an occasional trip between the lines. KC took a flier on his and I doubt if his stay in KC will be long.
Yeah, I was, and thought he would ball out in KC, but has not happened. To be fair he hasn’t had much of a chance yet. But only a piece in KC, not lead back. Bit surprised has not done better, does put some doubt on whether he is still relevant, but there is still time to see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He looked so good in that first tiny little spell I almost was willing to overlook the crazy contract - what a disappointment that signing has turned out to be
I can admit I was wrong bell is washed up and a multi millionaire bad combo- ask Wilkerson BUT the amount of 20/20 hindsight claiming “how smart they are” and dick sucking in this thread is nauseating most TGG wanted bell at the time...
Can't say anything for anybody else but I can back up @Jonathan_Vilma as I argued the toss with him about how good a signing Bell was and he was opposed to it from the start and stated his lack of playing time of nearly two years as the biggest red flag. He was right and I was wrong and I don't admit that very often tbh
Where's all its the coaching staff, doesn't know how to use Bell fan club?? I said as soon as we signed him, it was a big mistake, RBs have a short shelf life, it's easy to look great, when you have top notch offensive line, and a great QB, that would be why a nobody named John Conner was doing extremely well.
Probably because fans of this franchise have been starved of talent and success and are desperate for some joy.
I remember being against the signing because I thought the contract was ridiculous, but I got behind him once he was here, and there was a lot of optimism at the start of last season. It’s easy to forget about the optimism.
