Quick story for you, GoPats. I went to the college orientation for my daughter, at a Virginia University. In a large auditorium, an ethics professiosnal was teaching a seminar (of admitted students and parents) about the school's honor code. The example she used was Bellicheck, his lack of integrity and why his behavior is the paradigm of what the university does not want. It's not just Jets fans. It's everybody.
I do remember very vividly that SB, I was rooting hard for the Pats for multiple reasons. It seemed like a fluke at the time, they had alot of former Jet players from the Parcells years that helped us get close and I wanted guys like Roman Phiefer to win, there was the whole 9-11 thing as well but what really pissed me off was Mike Martz kicking an onside kick up 35-0 nothing that year against the Jets. It was bush league and I never forgot it. I know exactly what you mean with the 9ers too, looking back I was very lucky to have seen some of those guys play as they were some of the best teams in history. It's like Dallas... I hated the Cowboys for a variety of reasons and I especially hated Michael Irvin, the funny thing is about 2 years I actually got to meet Irvin and he took 10 minutes out of his time to talk to me which was awesome. He was an really cool guy, very candid and very funny. It's funny how being an adult or meeting somebody changes your perspective of teams and players.
So you don't know anyone - friend or family member - who is guilty of marital infidelity? I assume you cut ties with those people, since they have no class. The cheating thing I'm not touching. I've tried too many times to argue that issue with other NFL fans. You have your opinion and I respect your opinion, but I'm not sure that it's possible for you (or me, for that matter) to really look at that objectively. Stealing a million dollars... second reference to that I've seen on this thread, but I never heard anything about that at all. Not to be a wiseguy, but do you have a link? And no, I don't think you "need to know" Hitler to say what type of person he was. But give me a break kid... you're comparing a football coach to one of the biggest mass murderers in the history of mankind? Are you a drama student or something?
I know it's not just Jet fans, believe me, LOL! I surf a lot of boards. Kind of "unethical" though for an ethics professor to call him out on that though. Again, unqualified to make that call, IMO. You wouldn't see that happen at a real institution of higher learning, like Harvard or MIT (I'm kidding, I'm kidding...)
Sorry, here, let me fix that sentence for you: By that standard, since I never had lunch with Bernard Madoff, I guess I can't size up what kind of person he was? Happy now?
Here's your links: http://articles.latimes.com/2001/jan/07/sports/sp-9335 You say Belichick should have voiced those concerns way before last January? He should have. Leon Hess paid Belichick a million dollars when other teams wanted to talk to him. If he was worried about what might happen to him when Hess and Parcells were both gone, he should have spoken up then. From Pats* lover - the Springfield, MA born Peter King: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/inside_game/peter_king/news/2000/09/11/mmqb0911/ And a few months before the 1999 season -- not long before owner Leon Hess died -- Hess gave Belichick a $1 million bonus. Parcells told me it was to reinforce the terms of the contract and to thank Belichick for not taking any other head coaching jobs (in Chicago, Oakland or Kansas City). Belichick told me it was for a job well done and for not taking any of the three aforementioned jobs; thus, after the Jets' ownership change, he was free to take the New England job.
The current Titans will be wearing Oilers uniforms. It will be the early 60s version, long before Warren.
So Parcells = 100% credible, even though he's got a track record of lying through his teeth to pretty much everyone. But Belichick is lying. Even though you have no "real" reason to believe one over the other, and this is 110% based on the fact that you hate the New England Patriots, and you almost certainly have made no attempt whatsoever to actually discern any "facts" tied to the situation because God knows you may learn something. And you may not like what you learn. I hope you never get jury duty. BTW, is that you in the photo? Damn man, you could be Joey Tribiani's stunt double...
