I think when pre-season team cuts happen Douglas will swoop in and sign someone. There are always a few good players that get cut. Nate Herbig was a nice pick-up last year. Pretty sure the Jets will add someone as a stop gap until a late season trade or the next draft.
It’s pretty unrealistic. I think Ja’Wuan James sucks but they should bring him in for a workout. I think this will probably happen at some point.
Exactly. Of course that would weaken the RG position, but I think the Jets have great flexibility on the OL. Becton should be able to play either OT position, as can Turner and AVT. Turner can also play both OG positions. Schweitzer can play both OG positions and C. Colon can play both OG positions and C. They've had Mitchell taking some snaps at LT. Hopefully, neither AVT, Mitchell nor Turner will have to play LT this year.
IMO yes it is. At this point, no team is going to trade their starting LT, nor a good young player. Some team might be willing to trade an older, expensive washed up veteran LT, but I'm not sure that would be worth the cost. In addition, the Jets can't trade either their 1st or 2nd round draft picks. The 2nd, because that presently belongs to GB, and their 1st because unless Rodgers gets injured and doesn't play 65% of the snaps, GB will get the Jets' 1st round pick instead. I think we just have to hope that both Becton and Brown get fully healthy and stay that way, and both play close to their full potential. If so, we'll have a very good OL, imo, but that's a big IF.
I was operating under the assumption that the pay cut was made to facilitate some shoring up of the Oline, but as Vilma and BN illustrated quite well in the camp thread, Joe's weakness looks like the offensive line. Not sure what's up with that.
Also said he had the wrong surgery back in '21 which was a fast procedure to try and come back faster which was a mistake. Weighs in at 350 -- his lightest since college.
This is the tweet or Xeet or whatever they call it these days Hopefully this guy is finally getting it. He has a lot of natural ability that I hope he realizes. Hoping for the best may not be as funny as the fat jokes but he could be a huge asset to a shaky offense line.
Douglas took the high ceiling guy versus the high floor guy (at the time.) He took a shot and it *may* still work out. I hope it does because it would be great for the team. I'm not holding my breath though.
I feel the same way about Becton as I do about Zach. HELL YES they have been disappointing...but Give them the chance to show us their ability to win games... The coaches plan to play them against the Brownies. ITS SHOW TIME FELLAS!!! I expect to see Zach hitting receivers in stride. Becton should deal with the defense like the giant he is. I can envision him sweeping his arms thrashing defenders like wheat before a scythe. GO JETS !!!!
Honestly I’m over all the talk and the tweets and shit Just shut up and go dominate on the field and stay on the field That’s it Pretty simple Let your play do the talking for you
The key word is "said." Becton says a lot of things. Let's see what he does. I'd love to see him prove his doubters wrong, but he's got to do it on the field.
Becton has done a lot better in last few practices. Not dominant or anything, but there was clear progress where he does not get beat up badly one practice, then out of the lineup the next. Hopefully he can keep it up.
I think with practice Becton will return to form. I think the biggest concern is his injury history. If he gets back to his rookie year level of play and doesn't get injured, that will be huge for the team.
