might be more than just a few years. Trading away known Jet killer Lee Evans was a stellar move by Nix as well.
Yeah I didn't quite understand that move, nor did the players. As long as that freed up cap space is used next offseason (on WR's and OL Depth) then I can live with it I guess.
I can see Brad Smith coming back to kill us in one of those games we should never lose but find a way to lose anyway. Either a kick return or some long run nobody saw coming.
Unfortunately I was right about him and we had a lot less body of work to go on than we do with Smith. I realize being a good team in today's NFL means having to part with good players, but that doesn't make it any more fun. Especially for those of us who spent all those years in the wilderness with few or no good players on our team. At least Leon Washington went to the NFC West.
For crying out loud its the SYSTEM! Chad Morton, Leon wash, Brad Smith......kick returners under Westhoff thrive...period. Those guys had talent but they are replaceable as they have been. Kerley has more skillset and talent than all of them.. If I am wrong, I will admit it, but I doubt it. Whoever returns kicks or runs the wildcat with us this year will be top 5 in kick returns.. Im sure of it. Wildcat is a direct result of our line/scheme, well be fine there too.
im actually interested to see because I held out hope , realized he wasnt going to do anything here. but then I wondered why we never just let him play the ONLY position he ever looked decent at which was 4-3 DE we switch fronts enough and dont think i ever saw it. we'll see i do think he'll at least get a sack or two this year
That's what I'm banking on. While I don't disagree, it still sucks to see productive, good players get away and land in the AFC East.
No. You were wrong about Woodhead, and you're wrong about Smith. Woodhead had no place on our team, Smith had no place on our payroll. The Bills gave him an absurd amount of money for what he brings to a team, especially with the new KO rules. And Leon Washington has almost zero value at this point. He looked slow and hurt last season running the ball. BTW, it was possible to recognize what Woodhead would be to the Pats while simultaneously recognizing he'd never be a major contributor for us:
I wasn't wrong about Woodhead. I made a thread saying he was a good football player when he made our 53 man roster coming out of camp and he ended up being one, just not for us. Smith, money aside, does a lot more than return kicks. He only took on that role when Leon was traded, for four years prior to that he was a productive player for us on offense. You can make the case why they are no longer here, but you can't tell me I was wrong about their abilities because I wasn't.
I never said Smith didn't have ability, nor did I say that he wasn't productive for us in the spots we used him. I said there was no place for him on our payroll. The Bills paid him far too much for what he brings to the table. We'll see, but something tells me the drop off from Smith to Kerley in Wildcat situations isn't going to be worth nearly $4 million a season.
I hope you're right. From the Bills' perspective Smith may be the best player on their team and certainly changes their offense, so to them he's probably worth the money. Again, I understand the finances, just wish he's have gone far away too and not to a division rival, because I think he can play and he changes games.
This reminds me of the Arizona fans last year who thought they got "one of the hardest hitting safetys in the NFL" Cant blame Bears fans for being optimistic...especially after they discovered their QB was a walking vagina during the NFC Championship game.
Smith caught 4 passes last year the wildcat is no longer necessary now that nacho is in his 3rd season. new kickoff rules severely limit the value of kick returners $4 mill/year? Nice guy, nice player but no effing way.
pretty much. Any ESPN commented article will be full of retards. there's occasionally an insightful post but most of it is filled with ignorant morons or little kids
