Don't try to change the scenario you created. I'm not talking about what the Jets did fifty years ago; I responded to your claim that I, and others, have zero patience. That is not at all true, I have called for the ouster of only one other coach in fifty years - that is patience; more patience than anyone should need to endure. You're currently campaigning to give Bowles another year and a half before you decide he's overstayed his welcome; that's not patience, that's resistance to change - particularly when you cannot point to a single scrap of progress during his tenure. Bowles fired Morton because they didn't get along and begged Bates to take this job....life comes at you fast

i think you misunderstood and i'm not trying to change any subject. yeah if that's the case you've been patient but most fans want any coach we have fired like right away everytime. I'm campaigning we do whats best for sam. I think all fans can agree that's what our focus should be
Hoping Bates can improve is not a strategy. Suggesting he can "learn" from what he did really poorly this year and can MAYBE do better next year is a laughable plan for moving forward. All we would have done is lost another year off of Sam's rookie contract and stunted his growth until 2020. Bowles and Bates need to be fired January 1, 2019. Or immediately after the 2nd Pats game ends.
there is no way you can judge that as of now and the fact sam was ready day 1 to start and outside of his first pass in that game, threw a perfect game would suggest otherwise. the combo of bates and mccown has allowed sam to take a crash course and suceed
You are wrong. The Jets have failed to put Sam Darnold in a position to succeed. From the players around him to the play calling...the team has eroded...and it's dragging Sam down with it. If Darnold is FQB material...we won't get that under Bowles. Another season of ineptitude is another season wasted.
I hate to agree with a Steelers fan boy but you are damn right, he is in danger of being buried in a shit storm of crap play calling , poor pass blocking and WR's that can't get open due to the fact we have zero run game and everybody knows it. Did it ever occur to you that Bates hasn't "allowed" Sam to do anything, in combination with McCown or not? That Bates is actually holding him back? No one had real NFL tape on Darnold that first game and it may have been just that--first game where no one knew what he had. He's played some good games but I chalk that up more to his talent level and less to do with his development. His play has pretty much steadily gone down since then. Detroit and Indy were really good games. Every other game has been either pedestrian or poor. THAT'S and indictment of Bates, not Sam. He needs to be gone. Nothing to do with a lack of patience, it has to do with foresight seeing us waste another year of Sam's career "hoping" Bates can improve.
it's all a process, the option was to get sam now then build around him, or build around a future potential QB 1st then draft one. I like having sam better. we will build more talent around him
Wrong. Most fans want coaching to improve with every change made. A few just want to keep the lousy ones around forever, or at least another year or two for the sake of continuity. We have continuity at 5 - 11. Why would anyone want to continue that?
Jeremy Bates is trash. His scheme is trash and his playcalling is even worse. Everything is a 1v1 matchup, no easy routes to help get Sam into a rhythm, no routes run in combination with each other to scheme guys open.
when have you seen jet fans not call for their coach to be fired after 1 bad season? nobody wants to be 5-11 every year obviously i just think people forget that rome wasn't built in a day. it seems bowles is gone which is whatever i'm fine with it it's not like he's been a great coach by any means but he's also not as awful as people here make him to be and even great coaches like ried and bellichick and coughlin have been fired. sometimes a change in the locker room is much needed and it appears he lost the locker room. we just need to realize we are only on year 2 of a rebuild, we have a rookie QB, and every dam fan here expected us to only win like 5 games this year and now that it is actually happening people are shocked and pissed. That's what i don't really get i've criticized his play calling as much as if not more then anyone here. i'm not disagreeing at all. i'm just saying he can improve in year 2 and the continuity might be good for darnold
You've trotted this out at least a half dozen times. What, exactly, are you basing this on? You say it with such certitude. As if folks should somehow believe or trust you. If someone said "he can't improve in year 2" wouldn't that be just as compelling? The dude sucks, he walked away from football for 4 years. His heart wasn't in it and he's just not that innovative. We need to get Sam someone who, quite frankly, doesn't suck.
There may have been a few idiots calling for coaching changes after one year but that's not what you said. You said "most fans want any coach we have fired like right away everytime." I would estimate that the number of fans calling for any coach to be fired after only one season is much less than the number who keep wanting to give the head coach or offensive coordinator another year or two after the record shows they are bad and getting worse. Check your mirror before putting words in anyone else's mouth. You don't really believe there is a person here who is shocked that the team is performing so badly, do you? Sure, they may be pissed, but they're pissed that not a scrap of progress is to be seen and the development of the most promising player in decades is being sabotaged by lousy coaching to the point where the guy may be in danger of serious injury. You keep waiting for the coaching to improve but have zero basis for believing it will. Do you really believe that one of these guys is going to get hit by lightning and wake up the reincarnation of Rockne, Halas, Lombardi and Landry combined? That's what it would take for your "plan" to work.
I've seen enough out of just about everyone in the front office. Most of the players can leave town as well.
