The problem is Woody was about to make 4.26 million and that is a lot of money for a guy coming off surgery. If he wasn't hurt he probably would still be here.

According to profootballfocus, Bart Scott has been the 12th best ILB in football this year. He ranks 6th against the run. He struggles in coverage. He always gets ripped apart here by people who don't really understand football. He's been our best linebacker, believe it or not.

    12 Bart Scott NYJ
    Snaps- 484
    Overall- 10.3
    Run- 10.9
    Rush- 1.1
    Coverage -2.5

Pure nonsense. He hasn't been on the same planet as Harris or Pace.

Yeah there are clearly some real stupid posters here who just don't understand what Bart Scott does and can't seem to wrap their minds around it.

That's why he gets cut next year. Like I said in a previous post, you know what he does? He stands next to Rex on passing downs and yells, "c'mon D!!!."

Bart Scott blows up run plays and allows others to make tackles. Did you not watch the Denver game to see how great he can be in that role?

Meanwhile we have clueless fans like yourself crying and yelling at the TV about things they don't understand. I bet you are a regular Francesa caller telling him he's right and the Jets are shit. You fit the profile perfectly.

He's not getting cut, his salary is guaranteed. Don't be an idiot.

How is his salary guaranteed? There are no guaranteed contracts in the NFL.

Sigh. He said don't be an idiot, but.. nevermind..

Are you not aware that there ARE indeed guaranteed parts of contracts? And almost all, or all, of Bart's 2012 salary has been guaranteed.

That I didn't know. All of his 2012 salary is guaranteed? Then why the heck were they trying to get him to restructure when they were going for Aso?

Its guaranteed because that years salary is all prorated bonus money, due to restructuring from previous years. It counts against the cap no matter what, which means cutting him does not help the cap, therefore, it is better to keep him since he's dead money and you won't find a better option on the cheap.

This site breaks down our salary cap. instead of wasting board space with your dumb questions, now you can look them up, and speak on the topics intelligently.

Do you see how much better things could be if you actually knew what you were talking about?

Scott imo is not playing at his career peak level, but he's still contributing and is above average.

The real concern is if he slows down even more going into next year. For now, he's not a problem.

Yeah if I'm wrong I'll admit it.. but I'm not. You are.

And I don't go spouting off about things I clearly don't know about, like some people do. For example.. you?

There have only been a handful of times this year where I have seen Bart Scott really mess up a play. We don't really keep track of who is making rushing tackles or creating the space to make the tackles happen. He has been very good at both. I don't know why he's so hated by people.

Random observation looking at the stats:

Both Cromartie and Aso have been two of the worst CB's in football. I can't believe we were so obsessed with signing Aso. CRO at 8 mil per is a disaster!
