No, because he went after Rex Ryan's wife......families are off-limits....what if a Patriots player had a kid, son or daugher, who had a medical condition ? Would that be OK to joke about ?
Please don't compare a medical illness to foot fetish videos. I really hope you're not being serious...
I have no problem with Rex saying the type of stuff that he's said from day one. From making it known that he's not here to kiss Belly's rings, for letting the league & media know that he believes in his players & coaching staff, to the point where, he's confident in our ability to win a championship, from making it public that he wouldn't take any other team over the Jets during the playoffs last year, all the way back to the comments he made about no QB, not even Brady himself, studying the game of football & film like #18 of the Colts. Wheather you consider that to be talking, or trash talking, the fact of the matter is this; his players respond & play extremely hard under Rex Ryan. The proof is in the success. Record of 23-13 as head coach, 2-2 record against BB, Brady & the Patriots, two years with top 5 rushing attacks, two years with top 5 D's, 3-1 road playoff record; with a chance to return to the AFC Championship Game for the 2nd year in a row. Scott has every right to talk. He loves his coach.
I think what welker did is going to prove to have been a very dumb thing for welker to have done. i think he crossed a line by getting into personal matters. if he had said he hated the jets like brady did or if he wanted to call rex or bart scott an a-hole that would have been much better than what welker actually did. i think his attacking rex's wife in the way that he did was a bad idea especially for a little fella who plays offense and who has to come over the middle. I think this D is going to play 125% all out for Rex today. That may not be enough to win, but it also may be plenty.
He was making fun of Ryan as best as I could tell. I didn't hear a peep about his wife. Seems like fake anger to me.
Is Bart Scott going to go and kick the shit out of every executive and reporters with ESPN, the Boston Herald, and the hundreds of thousands of other news outlets, online and in print, that ran with this story and made jabs at this "very personal" matter? Because if poking a little fun at Rex for all of this is his standard for wanting to kickyour ass, he has a long list to go through. Might want to start with the guys who run Deadspin.
This is such a stupid fucking post its hilarious. Correct me if you disagree, but the last time i checked the geeks at the boston herald et al will not be trying to run routes into the Jets D this afternoon. Welker is the one who decided to take this to a different level w/his comments. He knew what he was doing and he certainly should have contemplated the very positive impact his comments could have on the Jets. I'm psyched welker said that stuff. As a Jets fan I am very pumped to see welker go out of his way to antagonize Rex and his family and the Jets team. I think it helps the Jets.
We hate him for being an asshole before this comment. What he says just puts frosting on his shit-cake. And the way he said it- the nerd who thinks he's so clever by using double entdres instead of growing a dick and saying his mind straight up. Like Bart Scott did. He probably even thought he would be clever by saying something about someone who couldn't hit him on the field. He was wrong. And I doubt that Scott is the only one on the D that feels this way. Best of luck Felcher.
Take Bart's Scott's comments for what they are worth - but what just struck me was Sal Paolantonio's comments this morning just before on ESPN. He seemed to suggest that Welker's comments (which even I kind of shrugged off) did piss off a number of the Jets besides Scott. The telling comment to me was Paolantonio said an "unnamed Jet" (so, that tells you it wasn't Scott) said the team was pissed off at Welker's comments and the Jet said something to the effect of, "Rex [Ryan] always has our back, today we are going to have his." Given, that is impressive to hear. I just hope the Jets play this afternoon reflects it.
A lot of people thought he was clever too. I'm sure players on the Jets D are angry but that's a reason Belichick doesn't like to give opposing players any fuel with talk. The NFL didn't send out a warning about threatening players with physical harm after Welkers interview. Do you think anyone is going to get upset at Welker if Scott actually tries to end his career on the field with a cheap shot? I hope Scott is just trying to work himself up for the game and not actually going to try and cheap-shot another NFL player.
it's not a cheapshot because you guys crossed the line by bringing family into it. that's off the field stuff. welker is completely repugnant for bringing that into the spotlight. dude's a nerd, probably a virgin before bill hooked him up with some skank.
Scott never said anything about cheap shots or injuring anyone, Don't try the straw man bullshit. There are penaties for cheap shots. Like when Fat Boy Wilifork eye gouges somebody. I guess he doesn't talk about it so is a CLASSY PATSY. Guess what- the Jets have the least penalized D in the NFL. Do you take everything a player says literally? Like if someone says they're going to 'knock the shit out of someone', that shit actually comes out of them? Grow a brain.
Yeah well Ryan brought his family into it first. I didn't see too much R-rated stuff in Welkers interview. Pretty mild stuff. Can't you even imagine if someone like Cromartie made jokes about it? Forget talk about "good little foot-soliders", he would have been calling Ryan a g-dam pervert and his wife a skanky ho or something. There's your difference.
