They only way they ever would cancel (postpone) is for lightning. They didn't cancel the Ice Bowl in Green Bay at -15 degrees with a 15-20 mph wind so they won't cancel this because of snow, no matter how bad.
Something I thought was funny, but did not deserve its own thread.... On ESPN, talking about the game, Rodney Harrison refers to the home crowd in NE as the "13th man"... He started to say 12th, but decided on 13th.... Because they already have the camera man as the 12th man, correct?
I do think they will be better off with Faulk then Maroney on Sunday just like I think we will be better with Washington then Jones.
Interesting. I'd think that in snow and ice a more straight ahead power rusher would be the way to go since making cuts on ice would seemingly be tougher to do. At the same time, if Washington could get any footing, he'd probably be able to make the Pats LB's look like a pop warner squad. And thats assuming he even finds a hole to run through.
Remember Curtis Martin in our snowy game vs Pittsburgh in '03? If you can get a shifty RB some decent footing in the snow, he can/will make EVERYONE miss.... He knows where he's going... Nobody else does.... And he's gotta be quick enough to make the move without being touched.... I'd rather go with a heavy dose of Leon this weekend than TJ
Maroney is a terrible "between the tackles" runner. Faulk is better.... ...but, if they are truly going to go with that sort of game, you'll see Heath Evans quite a bit...kind of a poor man's Mike Alstott.
Yea true, but we don't have the same O-line as we did in 03'. Then again, the Pats aren't the 03' Steelers defense either.
Actually, if I remember correctly, our slow, old defense was better in that game, because everyone was slowed down by the snow... Mo Lewis, Marvin Jones and company shut Pittsburgh down.... Looking at it that way, maybe it's an advantage for NE's slow LB corps?
This biggest difference snow usually makes in games is the lack of good footing that results from it, and seeing as the Pats play on field-turf now I don't think it will make a huge difference. As for the wind, that's a different story. If there are 45+ mph gusts like there are in the forecasts I'm reading, I doubt Brady will able to connect with Moss on those long bombs. I doubt it will even be snow for much of the game though, right now it looks like it will be either sleet or rain.
Field turf gets just as slippery, if not worse, than grass when there's snow on top of it.... I played a tournament game just 2 weekends ago on a snowy artificial surface.... The snow, on top of the icy, stiff, fake grass was terrible... You literally had to dig to get any sort of grip as you lined up at the LOS
Could be, but it works both ways I guess. Either way both teams will be at the same disadvantage. Anything that hurts the Pats passing game is worth it no matter what kind of harm it causes to the Jets game.
I think the middle will be too clogged up with no footing for either the offense or defense which would make somebody who can get outside a better threat.
JETS fans said NE don't have a running game but yet NE running game is better than the JETS. NE 14th in the league JETS 19th in the league.
No, pretty comparable I think. Maybe worse this Sunday, but it was quite a blizzard 6 years ago. One of those games where they have to keep cleaning the field just enough to see the yard markers.
Dude, Check out this forecast..... http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin...?query=02035&hourly=1&yday=349&weekday=Sunday Could be interesting....Sleet changing to rain.....
Why would you say it "was" our only chance if the bad weather is still supposed to hit and the game hasn't happened yet? It's still our only chance, isn't it?
