For those saying this is is a bad move do you care to explain? Even if he doesn't pan out, which I think he will, they basically gave up a 2nd round pick to move from 17 to 5 which is pretty much unheard of. I figured they'd have to give up a 1st this year and next to move up that far.
The trade itself was a steal, but the money we're going to have to put into Sanchez makes this a wait and see type of deal.
Exactly. Even if you HATE Sanchez, the Jets gave up next-to-nothing to do it. Disliking the trade is just irrational.
Dude, cap considerations are so 2002. It's 2009. The cap is increasing exponentially. It's not an issue.
This is the Greatest trade Ever ... First we Fire him then we F- him out of the 5th pick for only a 2nd round Pick .... WOW what a Great day
Exactly... THANK YOU that most of you get it... Cause i'm still embarrassed for the two guys crying on the tv, shaking their head no. embarrassing the rest of us.
I'll get out my checkbook...oh, wait, its not my money  No, but I know you mean the cap. Every team with a franchise QB somehow manages to get by somehow.
oh really tell some teams that have had top 5 busts, those are the teams that are NEVER good. there is a reason for that. we have essentially put all of our chips into this one single hand. the next 5 years will depend upon and solely upon whether or not this kid is a bust. i happen to think he is a bust waiting to happen. we had needs other than this that could have been very well addressed in our top 2 picks. instead we get a guy who is not that good and give up the chance to get good value for positions we need. its been proven TIME and TIME again, trading up doesnt work. it leaves you very susceptible. the jets bought into the hype and are really screwing themselves today.
We gave up a 2nd and spare parts. For a potential franchise QB that's a risk you have to take. It also says a lot about Clemens.
its easy to pay a guy 11 million dollars a year when he IS worth it. its not so good to pay a guy 11 million dollars a year when he doesnt sniff the field or is alex smith. makes it a little tough to have 2 franchise qbs. oh wait nobody has that.
Ya why the Hell didn't sombody BEAT the shit out of those Ass's (They almost made me hide in shame knowing they live in NY)
All our chips????... we gave up a second rounder and some average telent.. take a pill... QB was THE BIGGEST HOLE on this team. with any luck we have addressed that.
scared Jets fans, or really scared Jets fans??? we have the line and running game - he's going to sit and learn the system for year one. We'll be ok
Also, we didn't end up with Freeman which I think would have been a mistake. And, Mayock has him ranked as the #1 QB ahead of Stafford and Mayock is a much better evaluator of talent than the other hacks out there to include Kiper.
Love the pick- Clemens is not an NFL QB and Ratliff, though he had potential, was still a question mark. When you have the chance to get a franchise QB, you do whatever you can to get him. It speaks volumes about Clemens that Cleveland didn't ask for him- please don't think Tannenbaum would have said no to the deal if Mangini asked for Clemens. Sanchez comes from a pro system at USC- he's a smart QB who won't shy away from the NY media. I love this pick- Rex knows what he's doing.
