Yeah he's lost a lot physically but I just think his football IQ alone makes him a better option than what we have now. He can also help mentor the younger guys. Can always cut him if he stinks.
Idzik favors young guys over vets? That's def a myth,Willie Colon,Vick,Winslow,Garrard,Chris Johnson,Patterson,Landry,Ed Reed all vets I think I'm forgetting some people
(as per the NFLN a few mins ago) "Champ wants to play safety now"... Somebody may give him that chance.
I wouldn't have. Cro is lazy. He never worked hard enough to learn sound fundamentals. He has tried to get by on his speed and athleticism, and as he has gotten older, his speed and athleticism are not what they were. He has nothing with which to compensate. He was awful last year. In addition, we don't know what went on behind the scenes. Since Rex and the Jets seemed to have zero interest in bringing him back or in bringing him back only as a last resort, I have to think that they either felt his injury issues were going to be a chronic thing limiting his play or there was some other issue.
Champ Bailey is injured. Do we really need another injured corner? If we have to get someone get a younger guy who could have some upside.
Good players get cut as teams try to sneak them onto practice squads or just miss the mark at talent evaluation. Most of these guys are rookies that need to develop on ps. That doesn't mean they are bad prospects. Any cb we pick up from cuts would be a depth move not a #2 fix.
There was a really good group of younger FA corners this offseason if you look at next years group its nothing special with the exception of Revis, looks like we are gonna waste another first round pick on a corner
You haven't been paying attention. Our front 7 are going to intercept the snap, no need for DB's. FTR... I don't think the guys we have are terrible, I just don't think they are good enough. Only takes 1 weak link.
I guess I called that one the other day. I have no idea if it will work out but sometimes a guy just needs a change of scenery and they play much better. The main reason I mentioned McFadden before was that he was a rookie 3rd round pick last year that only played 4 games. The key to finding some good players on the waiver wire is trying to find players that other teams gave up on too quickly.
Despite those metrics Purifoy made a 53 man NFL roster after going undrafted while guys who got drafted and have better metrics are walking the streets. Sadly, Roberson made the 53 man too.
