I agree that Howard played as well as could be expected,,,,now hopefully if we do make a trade , the other team cannot hold a gun to our head knowing how desperate we are / were. We still have little or might I say no depth on the line and need to make a trade or pick up a warm body or 2 . I am hoping that a decent RT is cut loose by another team !
They probably won't cut Hunter because the media will have a field day at Tannenbaum's expense for guaranteeing his contract and then saying he IS our starting RT. They will just bury him on the bench.
i love it, kid gets the start, steps up and has a hell of a game against one of the leagues better pass rushers, and people here want to trade him for someone 'better'? or worse, they are unhappy that he had a good game. what else do you people want from this team? the line looks pretty good right now, if ducasse keeps playing well and slauson keeps taking stupid penalties (tahts 2 games in a row he killed drives) then id rather have ducasse out there. guy looks like a force in the run game, and hes pretty good in pass protection too. we cant afford to cut mulligan and get hunter off the field only to have slauson take their spot as the drive-killing penalty machine.
The Jets may as well keep Hunter around for depth, given his contract status, but he should never see the field again unless injuries strike the starting O-Line. He got embarrassed by 2nd and 3rd stringers last night; at this point I feel better with Ducasse in as the extra lineman (and I think that Ducasse is fucking awful, so that says something.) Howard looked solid enough. He'll probably need substantial help all season (all the more reason to add a blocking tight end not named Wayne Hunter,) but as long as Sanchez isn't running for his life on every play we can make this work.
