He's never been great but he also was only terrible last year.

yes I would trade up for him, that trade was a steal. It's not his fault we allowed the talent around him to deteriorate. He had no chance last year, no QB would have had a chance w/ our healthy talent last year.

Sanchez looked to have so much upside first 2 season

Not to many QBs regress like Sanchez has my biggest thing about him is even though there isnt a lot of talent around him he doesnt make any of his players better

You know he's never completed more than 60% of his passes along with never becoming the star we assumed we had

I would draft him if he fell to 17 but I would not have traded up

I do think going defense 5 straight times in round 1 is unhealthy when your QB is not elite but they put a ton of faith in Mark and he never put it all together

I'm not saying he was great

I'm saying he hasn't been great since stepping into the league

He managed games well, won a few and gave a lot away(turnovers) in 4 years

Correct, he's never been anything near "great" in a Jets uniform. His play has ranged anywhere from painstakingly average to thoroughly terrible.

Well said. I don't see how a fan can hope for any of our QBs to fail. Unless, of course, that fan enjoys the pain of failure and that is the reason why they identify with this team. I've grown convinced that there is a significant portion of this fan base that do not want this team succeed.

Hobbes out of context yet again.

The Sanchez "punt" was on 2nd or 3rd down while the team was in field goal range.

That's a BIG difference from throwing pick on long and 4th down outside of field goal range.

Holy shit, man, are you still hanging your hat on that?

What's your next prediction? That it will be hot in Arizona in August?

Tell me, Nostradamus, what month this year will see the most frozen turkeys sold?

People wanted Garrard to start because they were desperate to see someone other than Sanchez start. They also hoped beyond hope that he could stay healthy. I saw it posted all the time.

You act like it never occurred to anyone but you that the guy would never get to the regular season healthy. I know it occurred to me and I know it occurred to a lot of people. It wasn't really something worth predicting because he was a member of the team and everyone loves a comeback story.

The only reason you posted it as some all-knowing oracle is because you have been slathering yourself with Sanchez nut-sweat for months and you will shit on anything that is a possible alternative to Sanchez starting.

That is the ONLY reason you posted that. Not that you knew something.

Get off this "I told you Garrard wouldn't make it to opening day" shit as if it makes you some sort of expert.

All it does is continue to make you look ridiculous.

Was there training camp today? Lol. In my opinion Sanchez was exposed when the o line fell apart year three and the FO felt that getting wide receivers was better than suring up that line. Sanchez played on an island without a running game. He developed happy feet. Since then he does not hit receivers in stride and does not know how to drop a ball in on a deep route. Or fade a pass. Throw a ball away. Secure the ball. He is a stop gap till Geno is ready or he tries to break his int record in the first half of the season. But the oline is improved. I think he has a good year provided Ivory and Goodson get on the field. Besides he has to put a good can of film together for next year unless he leads this team to the playoffs.

Basically, when it comes to Sanchez. It isn't 100 percent his fault, but he also hasn't shown to be a great QB in his own right. He makes a lot of mistakes that just make us go WTF?.. I do think the fact that the Jets never surrounded him with a lot of offensive talent stunted his growth. I'm curious to see how Sanchez would do if he was the Falcons QB with all of those weapons they have down there.

He was okay/decent in 2009-2010 with some reliable offensive weapons. Since 2011, it's been a horror show with him.

His post season QB rating speaks otherwise. He has had great games. He's also had terrible games. Sanchez' biggest problem is his consistency. Last season he was just bad. In 2011 he was up and down. He's shown flashes of greatness, but he can't incorporate into his normal regiment. You said that he has never thrown over 60%, but that is false. He has done that on at least a few occasions. I haven't lost total faith, but a big part of Sanchez this year if he starts is going to be pass protection.

Against Giants during two super bowls, how did Tom Brady look?

Patriots offense in general sucked during the two super bowls. The defense did their average job - held Giants to 17 and 23. It was the offense that stunk up to the high heavens.

The point? If the line cannot protect the QB, the QB turns mediocre.

As for Sanchez, WFH and Austin Howard is not exactly the bulwark of protection - Damien Woody was. [It is not a coincidence that Sanchez regressed really bad once his protection from the right side crumbled.]

P.S. By junc logic, it is the defense's fault that Patriots lost the Super Bowl XLVI.

2011 marks the WFH year - and 2012 was Austin Howard year. As any OL stats will tell you, the protection from RT side wasn't all that reliable since Woody retired. Yes. Another blunder from T-Bomb. It really never ceases to amaze me when I look at how much a GM can fuck up a franchise. I mean, Terry Bradway was bad. T-Bomb is on equal plateau in terms of sucktitude - he depleted team's youth, got rid of team captains, and also god rid of what little protections and reliable weapons the team had. A stroke of Genius? You betcha.

I am not saying Sanchez is going to be the end-all, be-all QB that Jets envisioned when they drafted him back in 2009 - he is not likely to improve much, if you ask me. Just, I find it so odd to see the franchise literally sabotaging its own franchise QB like the Jets did the past half decade.

I was just asking because I have seen some horrific years and they don't involve Mark Sanchez. Maybe 2012 does, but mostly due to lack of talent, Tim Tebowmania, and Tony Sparano. Hopefully things do get better though, as last year was rough to say the least. I think it will though, as most of the problems from 2012 are gone.

Sans the already killer looking defense the offense will look the same as last year.

Same WR's even missing the "best one". Same TE, Winslow is fighting for the job. Same RB, Powell looks the best right now.

Even if Wnislow and Ivory or Goodson are any good. The offensive side of the ball looks awful, again. No matter the QB. Unless something wacky happens.

I feel like this should be the plan, but I don't want the job to be just handed to Mark like every season prior to this. If Geno clearly beats him out, then the starting gig goes to Geno.
