I spent 6 months in Mobile before running the fuck to Georgia. I speak from experience. It's like..the farther east you get in Mississippi and then into Alabama the more third world it becomes up until about Montgomery/Bham line through to Atlanta. Tuscaloosa is a fun party town, don't get me wrong, great bars and great tradition, but it's on the fringes of the world IMO.

Edit - and the coast is just pure trash. everything they try to do to promote civilization on the coast is the exact fucking opposite of what they should do. for example: gulf shores is running an ad campaign now calling itself a spring break destination. AYFKM? Alabama public intox and marijuana laws are draconian to say the least, and their cops target out of state tags like MF's, so SB there is out the window. i got 6 tickets in 6 months, and i hadn't had a moving violation of any kind in my entire driving history. Mississippi tags be damned.

    Toomer's Corner live cam.

Going down there in April to see my brother. Hopefully they make it that long. I'd like to be able to say I saw one of those old bitches before get hacked down.

Alabama U. would look like heroes if they searched high and low to find replacement trees. Even still, I wouldn't want to be wearing a Alabama t-shirt in Auburn for next year's Iron Bowl.

Spring break. Gulf Shores, Ala. is trying to promote itself as an SB destination. No, not superbowl. I know this is a football board so it can easily happen. Not to hijack this further into a fuck the entire state of Alabama thread, but this Toomer's corner incident is exactly why everyone who compares Pennsylvania-between-the-cities to "Alabama" is wrong..nobodies driving into State College with Spike.

Plenty of perfectly healthy 200 year+ oaks on the campus of Ole Miss. Bama's got some too, especially in the woods around campus. No reason they can't transplant a few unless they're just too old.

Toomer's corner is just the tip of the ice berg if you like live oaks.

I guess the $10k raised by Bama fans isn't enough?

No. Do you know what it costs to find a 130 year old oak, not to mention transplant it without losing it too?
