I know i'll get killed for this but I don't believe Geno can be labeled a failure after 2 seasons. We've got some really good weapons around Geno with the addition Marshall & Amaro in his 2nd season should be more polished, let's see what the kid does in year 3. If we move Mo we could possibly pick up a player that's established in the league and fills another need and also draft a kid like Hundley or Petty later on , and use the picks we get for Mo to add much needed depth and additional help on the o-line. If Mo truly isn't viewed as a necessity in Bowles defense then now is the time to make that move and get something for the guy. Maybe use the extra 1st we get for Mo on a WR and grab a RB with another pick, idk. I just think we can really benefit from extra picks, obviously the RIGHT picks.
And the curse of the NYJATW jersey purchases is in full swing. Penny jersey? Cut Revis jersey? Traded Myself? I don't play in the NFL Martin? HAHA can't get me with this one stupid curse. Wilkerson? *gasp*
I am tired of warming up the popcorn to watch the Jet defense. My guess is many here on TGG are drooling at this prospect and watching Fowler or Beasley tear up an opponents backfield. Final scores of most games will still have us lose by 10 points or more. Always close but no cigar
Exactly right..we already have a top 3 defense and a bottom three offense and people just don't get it.
Wouldn't it be better to have Mo and a stud WR over Williams and a stud WR? Basically you are ok with trading Mo for Williams. Makes no sense to me. If someone blows us away with multiple picks then I might be ok with it but your scenario, not at all.
If we were able to trade Mo and #6 for the #2 pick and use that pick to trade down we could get multiple high picks in this draft and the next to set us up for years. Look what happened when the Vikings were convinced that Hershel Walker was the chosen one they needed to put them over the top. Three Cowboys SB victories was the result.
If you are the Titans would you rather draft at 6 or some lower pick (12, 17, 20)? Getting Wilkerson instead of Williams and still making a high first round selection at # 6 is like having their cake and eating it too if they have the cap space to make it work. Why should other teams care if they are giving their picks to us or the Titans as long as they get their precious QB?
They're probably not going to trade him at least according to a scroll on either ESPN or NFLN so maybe this is just some gamesmanship by Mac. But if you do trade him you have to get at least a top 10 pick in return.
I'm not okay with trading Mo for Williams; or replacing Mo with any unproven rookie, but you can't completely ignore the financial dynamic of the situation. None of us are privy to what Mo is looking for contract wise. If he wants " J.J Watt" money, the organization might have no choice but to shop him for a cheaper, albeit not as proven, option.
If we trade Mo, Coples takes his place not some rookie. We would use the picks to fill other holes or to get another #1 next year so that we can get a QB, LT, or other stud next year.
1. I do think that, if the deal is too good to refuse, Jets should pull the trigger. 2. So what qualifies as [too good to refuse]? It will have to include #1 first and foremost. And [a player] or [#2 and #3]. 3. If Jets do trade Wilkerson away, Coples will return to his most effective spot, so not all is lost on DL. 4. With 2 #1, Jets can either pick a [QB and OT], or [QB and OLB]. [QB/OLB would be my preference if Wilk parts.] 5. And the incoming player would have to contribute at least adequately.
