Who says nothing good could come out of this tragedy... http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...siness-booms-mass-shootings-article-1.2454368 The American Dream. A car in every garage, a chicken in every pot and an automatic rifle over every mantel. God Bless America!
that may be true (i dont know) but there's rarely a crime committed with an automatic weapon. Were the weapons in this instance automatic?
I think it's harder than you suggest, but it is possible. Still illegal without the proper license. The irony of these situations is, any time something like this happens, both side of the argument are more convinced of their views. The anti gun crowd wants fewer guns for their protection. The pro gun crowd want more guns for their protection.
Making things illegal has such a long history of success actually eliminating those things in this country. It takes a special kind of delusion to believe that will make you safer. I don't know how all these people keep getting arrested selling drugs. Drugs are illegal so they couldn't possibly attain them via illegal means to sell.
And alcohol all but disappeared in America during Prohibition. There just wasn't any market for it. _
It was the muslim shooter ( surprise). Who in their right mind sells ammo or firearms to anyone wearing a burka? The California gun laws really do an "amazing" job. If someone ie...religious nut....wants to kill people, they will find a way to do it.
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/10/14/suspect-dead-10-hurt-in-hammer-attack-in-canadian-office/ We need more hammer control. Extensive background checks on anyone who wishes to purchase a hammer. All hammers shall have their etched serial number recorded in a national database and will be subject to a $30 transfer fee at time of sale. Claw and ball pein hammers shall be considered assault hammers and may only be purchased by licensed current or retired contractors. Civilians shall only be permitted to purchase rubber mallets with an overall length not to exceed 6" and may only purchase one every 90 days. Support hammer control. The time for common sense legislation is now.
Mass shootings are on the increase, as are instances of domestic terrorism. Overall, violence has gone down since the mid 90's due to the waning of the crack cocaine epidemic, as well as other social and economic factors. Is your point that nothing should be done? The status quo is just fine?
thank god he used a hammer. he's the only death. only 10 people hurt. if he used a ar-15 all 10 would be likely be dead plus possibly more. not sure the sarcastic point you are making is a sound one. might wanna rethink it
Punishment. We don't live in a minority report world that can predict and prevent, so we have laws to levy punishment when caught and dissuade. You just supported my position -- if someone is not concerned about the punishment they will commit the crime. We have rights that explicitly demand that ownership of weapons should not be criminal and therefore we shouldn't be dissuading the acquisitions of guns with the threat of punishment by making them illegal. What we need to be addressing are the social and cultural issues that is fueling the growing anger and frustration that a certain sect of people to lash out violently. A certain sect of people who just happen to be publicly disseminating the message to lash out violently.
here's my issue with this argument: "growing anger and frustration causing a certain sect of people to lash out violently" has been a humankind issue since Cain & Abel. no shit we should try to fix that. 1000's of years humankind has been trying to fix that. we haven't been successful yet. maybe we continue to work on that while making a shorter term fix that might actually make it a little more difficult for these people to get their hands on the tools they are using? crazy thought i know
daily news cover today labels head of NRA a terrorist. Not that they're logical, but using logic one can conclude they beleive NRA members are also terrorists.
So we are called "gun nuts" now "terrorist" and are spoken about condescendingly in reference to owning guns and always put on the defensive and people wonder why there is never any compromise.
The shooter’s brother, Syed Raheel Farook, was a decorated Navy man who got a medal for taking part in the war on terror after serving on the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier as an IT technician. TMZ had a photo of the dead Farook on street
