Jeff Garcia wants a starting job and would not be satisfied as anyones backup.

I can see us signing one of them (Leftwich or Garcia) as someone who could compete with Ratliff and Clemens. The winner of that QBs the 2009 season. And if they suck... draft QB in 2010. My fear is that with that aggressive defense in Baltimore, Ryan also brings the disdain for the offensive side of the ball they have in Baltimore as well.

That was always perplexing because Brian Billick was the offensive guy in Minnesota when they had the big Randall Cunningham/Randy Moss offense, then in Baltimore they never got it together.

I'd rather be a defensinve team first, I've wanted that for years. I hoped Groh, Herm and Mangini would all make us that but for some reason we still can't get off the field on 3rd downs. You can win with a big defense and a decent QB, it would be nice to have a franchise QB but that's not always an option.

Wow, Lots of love in the air! Any free agent QB picked up would garner a lot of money. The guys low on that list and not super stars or once super stars would just be another clip board holder and nothing more. Why waste the money? With that I say just finally settle on one guy and let him develop. If we spend quality money to sit someone down and watch, then what?s the point?

All of those guys that we could realistically get on that list are 1-2 year fixes at best. No longevity. We might as well draft a mid-rounder (Harrell) dump Ainge, and see what Clemens or Ratliff can do. Won't cost us anything and we'd win just as many games as any of those FAs could.
