Kiper has Haden falling from #5 to #12 on his big board. Obviously the odds of him dropping to 29, but it would be interesting if he fell to the mid-1st due to an outside shot at moving up. I'd still go CB if there was a way to get him.
Wow guess his stock must of shot up a bit over the weekend. I remember this guy being projected late first not too long ago. Figured teams would have a hard time spending an early pick on a 1 year wonder. Not a fan of the Tate move though.
Re: Assuming we dont trade up/down and Exactly, and given the uncertainty surrounding Leon, it wouldn't be te end of the world to bring in a young back and not miss a beat if Leon continues to demand an absurd contract next year. And if Leon gets picked up this offseason, we should all be praying Matthews is there at #29.
I agree but IMO, Mathews will go to the Chargers at #28. If the Jets want Mathews...trade up a couple of spots.
Re: Assuming we dont trade up/down and these players are at 29 who do you th Hence why I said we pray in that situation  There are more than a few solid backs who will be available into the 2nd if he's off the board before we pick, though. I'd rather trade back than up.
Don't know what you've been reading, but JPP has been mocked from the early to mid first since the end of the NCAA season. He has shot up a bit it seems still from the combine. Some are expecting him to a top ten pick and the Jags are his new favorite landing space in most mocks.
We do not need to be spending a first round pick on a rb, that is just crazy talk. Right now the ideal situation would be Tate being available although I think that is unlikely. I wouldn't mind Williams either which is much more likely. Outside of WR I would be looking at DL/OLB/S in the first.
I wouldn't want Jahvid Best if he were the best running back available. It should really be the best running back that fits into our style of play. I think Hardesty, Tate, and Blount have to be the guys we consider at running back if Mathews doesn't make it to us. None of these guys are first round talents, so we may be able to trade back into the second and select one.
Our HB situation isnt exactly great. If the right guys available in the first I could see us biting and then putting Leon on the block. We are a run first team with a nasty offensive line, if we can get REALLY set @ hb it can take us far.
Drafting a RB in the 1st round would be almost as stupid as drafting a QB in the 1st round. You want to draft another RB because "Greene is injury prone." and if Greene goes down we have no one to replace him. Well Sanchez is injury prone. no? He has knee problems and if he goes down were really screwed so why not draft a backup in case something "happens?" Just to be safe. If matthews or spiller falls to 29 ill think bout it but that would be like saying what if Clausen fell to 29. Do you take him?
No way. If he or another corner prospect (Kyle Wilson in particular) falls to 29 then I wouldn't mind but to give up extra picks for a CB after we gave up a pick for a corner would not be a good idea
Well it made sense in my head lol. But I just dont see the need for a RB in the 1st round. Its just ridiculous
If the Jets get a 3rd for Rhodes, then Haden falls to 15ish, you wouldn't trade that 3rd and the 29th for Haden? Again, I don't think he'll fall that far, but if he did I think they'd have to do it. Cromartie is only here for a year and you'd be getting the best CB in the draft for the future.
Our 1st and a 3rd isnt enough to get us to the 15th pick. We would have to trade our 1st and 2nd and next years 4th to do that.
1. It's not going to get us to 15. 2. If Haden falls that far than chances are that the Jets could pick up either Wilson or McCourty by staying at 29.
