If the player is a similar prospect to one of the busts that came from there? Sure. But because of the fact that he played there? No.

I took Sheard. After watching some tape of him against the U this year...the guy is relentless. He wants to destroy the QB.....and from what E has said in other threads, the guy has a mean streak too. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE JETS ARE MISSING FROM THEIR CURRENT DEFENSE.

    I wouldn't mind IronHead Heyward's kid either......

James L is going to be one of the best new upcoming ILBs in the NFL, that's a fact.

You have to look at individual players, not a specific school. I was the most anti-Gholston person on this site before he was drafted, that doesn't make me dislike Heyward.

OSU has had their failures just like any other major team.

To be down on Heyward because Gholston or Hawk were terrible picks is unfair.

    This.

I just can't see how Cameron Heyward can fail at the NFL level. I'd rather go in another direction if certain players are available, but I wouldn't be upset if he became a New York Jet.

Gee whiz. First you HATE Cam Newton, and now you HATE Ohio State defensive prospects. I guess they are a sour bunch up there in the Deliverance section of Florida.

I'm a Justin Houston fan myself. Experince as an OLB in the 34 and good pass rushing skills for the position. Jabaal Sheard would be a good OLB as well, but I prefer Houston.

I saw that negative Cam Newton nonsense and just went to another thread.

I like Houston, he can also fit into a 4-3 system. I don't feel he's the best purest rusher of the group.

Sheard is relentless, and did very well without Romeus. I do have some concerns about his off field incident, but his anger could turn into a positive as long as he keeps it on the field.

I think Brooks Reed is going to move up before the draft and be a contender. Arizona is a decent football team, they just don't the press coverage compared to other teams.

    Exactly.

I remember a lot of those debates about, Gholston. We shared a lot of similar view points on how terrible we thought Gholston would translate in the NFL.

I am a big Ohio State fan. Watching VG play made me cringe, the thought of him being selected by the Jets, well, we all know how that turned out.

Cam Heyward is light years ahead of Gholston though. IMO

They both have some similarities, but nothing that really hinders Heyward being successful in the NFL. I think he is gong to be very solid for any 3-4 team, I personally feel he is versatile enough to play in some 4-3 schemes.

This guy is a beast, he has the measureables, and his technique is far better then, VG.

Cameron Heyward has more then just a "bullrush" to attack the passer. He can eat up the double team on a fairly consistent basis, something VG could never do. He excells at stuffing the run, he actually has great instincts and can shed blockers. He is around the ball a lot, he is a consistent tackler, and if given an open lane, he will make you regret it.

I mean, I could keep going on about some of the things that seperate the two, but I think it's kinda pointless. Just watch the two, you will almost instantly see why Gholston should've never been drafted in the first round, and why Heyward will most likely be a very reliable starter in the NFL.

Comparing the two is just dumb, I would absolutely love to have Cam Heyward on this team. That is actually who I feel has the most upside in this draft, and will excell the most with this team.

Oh, also. Those that have concerns about his motor, I don't get it? I think he has a very high motor and he is someone that wants to improve at anything and everything he can. He is always around the ball or taking double teams almost on everyplay. It tends to hinder your productivity in the stat line, but the man does his job. I just don't get it?

There's nothing to get man, people can just be really stupid at times. They'll read one bad line on a random scouting report on SUPERDRAFT.COM and it'll be spouted on this board for the next three months like it's gospel. It's just the sorry way it works.

Heyward is a smart player that takes his football very serious. If the Jets draft Heyward he isn't going to have outstanding #s, he's going to hold the the fort so others can get to the QB. Most ignorant Jet fans will consider him a bust.

Never realized you were from Ohio, enjoying the Weather??

I have at least an inch of ice on my driveway. It's messed up out there!!!

Man, I would be so thrilled if the Jets drafted him. I know we need a consistent pass rush, but, you need someone to eat up space and free up those lanes. He would give us a lot more consistency in that area.

Haha.. Yeah, I went out to try to go to the store earlier, and I couldn't even get my car door open because of all this ice. It's crazy..

I want Justin Houston if he is available. Good pass rusher, strong, decent speed, and good intangibles (from what I have read). I think he will go earlier, but I think he will thrive under Rex.

Brief look at the rest, I think I rank them:
    Sheard
    Taylor
    Heyward
    Beal
    Liuget
    Moore

The more I kick things around (and as my boy J Beal tumbles mightily), I'm starting to really like the sound of Sheard at #30. He's an explosive player that goes to the whistle, and plays with a real violence towards the offensive players. I think that's what you get when you have a guy that beat a man so horrifically that throwing him through a glass door was merely the midpoint of the whooping.

Lock his ass up. (to note, I mean lock him up via the draft, not in prison. He's a stud).

Jets are cursed when drafting OSU players. Nick Mangold was the rare occurrence

Mike "Kickoff to the 20 yard line" Nugent
    Anthony "I Suck" Schelgel
    Vernon Gholston

So we are drafting players by their school now? Sheard it is then.....(Curtis Martin and Darrelle Revis)
