Fozzi, you may not be an Islanders fan, but his article on Crosby, and the game winning flop was so spot on. If there was any justice in this world, this guy would be in the Post or the News, instead of what we get fed now.
Locker, freeman, and Kolb or EJ, wont be able to handle this defense. I think Marty gets production, no matter who starts, but the "better than those three" factor is why I think Sanchez starts the season. Playing NE, the Thursday night after opening Sunday is the blessing. One team will know everything the opponent does, (and a much weakend opponent i might add) and the other wont.
I hope your right...but the defense isn't the worry. I'm thinking it may take 6-8 games for our offense to get their legs under them in a new system that requires precision, accuracy and communication. If we go 5-4 before the bye I'll be impressed. Then going 11-5 is a bit more feasible with our back end schedule. If we stomp NE Thurs. nite, move over, 'cause I'll be jumping on your bandwagon.
I usually just lurk around here and read nowadays but this article hits it out of the park. The silver lining for all the media nonsense is that every win will be that much sweeter. I can't wait to see what we can do this season!
Hobbes is right(can't believe I said that) Whether Sanchez or Geno if we get anything out of the offense and solid special teams we could push to 11-5 and make the playoffs I don't see Sanchez having an Alex Smith turnaround but I think more of decrease on turnovers and increase in completion % with our backs and receivers doing most of the work picking up yards If Geno is out there I could see the same mentality mixing in some option plays and more vertical attacks
I know its like beating a dead horse.,,but...watch Buffalo week 1, and the St.Louis game. Thats thos years offense.
I'd bet the farm that Revis was their first group decision. Idzik told Rex that we can't build the team with that much money invested in the secondary. Rex told Idzik that he'd only go along with it if they could use the first pick on a corner and thus it was completed. I can't see it going down any other way. Cornerback was hardly a need worthy of an early first, but we had to replace Revis, with a prospect that will hopefully one day kind of fill his shoes.
Dude. start paying attention. CB is perennially a need bc of the offense NE runs, CB, is why we got beat in Indy, by 3rd and 4th receivers. Teams that get the ball out in 3 steps, are immune to front 7 pressures. And, FWIW..its Rex's major fail as a head coach. He gets that on Defense. But stayed Married to a Coryell disciple on offense.(Schitty) . If, Weis, Henning,or...Hackett, is the OC, in 2009 or 2010, we probably win a SB.
The Jets will have to completely fall apart (2-4 wins) for Ryan to lose his job this year. Everybody expects the Jets to be the worse team in the league and those predictions only solidify his tenure.
I'm not a hockey fan at all but a couple of the guys that work here are Islander fans. They were the ones that turned me on to GLJ 18 months ago. They knew I was all about Gang Green and said he writes articles for Jets too. As Islander fans, they love him as a writer because he kills the team when they deserve it, using with logic and evidence to back it up and sing the praises when its well deserves, without going overboard and being an uber sunshiner. So far I have been seeing the same level headed, even-keeled, educated articles from him about the Jets since I started following his writing. He's not an "article mill," so he isn't pumping out long winded pieces every other day, but his quality writing more than makes up for the lack of quantity. He and the bloggers over at TOJ (via twitter) get into debates about the Jets a lot, but I have yet to see a single arrow slung. As a fan site TGG is the best place but when I am looking for REAL news and level headed opinions and info about the Jets, Jeff Capellini (@GreenLanternJet) and Joe Caporoso (@TurnontheJets) are my go to guys.
Maybe, but in 2010 when Rex lost big time to NE (45-3?) Rex flooded the field with DBs. Then a few weeks later in the playoffs, he did the EXACT same thing, flooded the field with every DB he had, and beat Brady in his own house. That was probably the LAST thing Belicheck expected and prepared for, Rex running the exact same D that just got him killed a few weeks earlier. But the 2nd time was a charm. CANT WAIT!
That was the only time I seen Brady lost Rex schemed his ass off that game and the offense was on fire as well
After the 45-3 loss Rex called a team meeting at practice and buried one of the game balls in front of the team. I never heard another coach do this. I will always remember that. :metal:
Yeah I'm aware of that, but we are already loaded at CB. Milliner is icing on the cake. I know it's helpful against quick pass heavy offenses like NE, but it's simply not viable to have 25+ million locked up by a single unit on defense, if you plan to build an offense that does more than get 3 and outs. That's why Revis is gone. Had we payed the man, we would have not had room to sign Goodson, Barnes, Landry, Winslow, etc. It would cripple the team like it did in 2010.
