I totally get it. I think in an ideal world I'd agree with your view. I just think we see so many busts, I feel more certain about Nelson not being a bust than just about any player in this draft. His contributions are transformative in my eyes, just not as obvious as say QB or RB. I think whoever ultimately takes Nelson won't end up disappointed. Someone like Darnold may be a franchise savior or just another in a long line of busts. I don't think Nelson has that uncertainty. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Agreed. If they sign Cousins, I want the Jets to trade down, however if Barkley is there you have to pull the trigger. All indications show he is the next Zeke / Bell.
I can't disagree with that. But if a QB-starved team like the Browns or us took a G when a top rated QB is there, they'd have to sell the team.
I would most definitely prefer to draft Rosen, but if Mac signs Cousins, and a scenario unfolded in which Rosen or any of the top 3 quarterbacks fell to the Jets No. 6 overall pick, then trading back with a team in need of a quarterback would make a lot of sense. There is oppotunity cost and risk no matter which side of the argument your on regarding how the Jets address their need for a franchise quarterback.
Most teams are going to have Barkley in the top 2 of their draft boards, not to mention it's a copy cat league...Zeke and Fournette have made it cool to draft running backs early again. With that said, I just hope Macs sticks to his guns and goes BPA like he has been doing in the first round, make it a safe pick. If we get Cousins, the likely safe picks are Nelson or Minkah Fitzpatrick. No Cousins, were probably going Mayfield. I do think, no matter what, Rosen, Barkley and Chubb are gone at our pick in any scenario.....
After the top 4 QB's this is who i want. He fits a long time need & is a special talent. How often do players of his caliber openly admit to being a Jets fan & publicly embrace joining the team? Beyond position this is the type of player & situation the team needs to get out of this rut.
Not sure if people say it every year, but last year Cook & Mixon (2nd rd).... Hunt & Kamara (3rd)...Cohen (4th)....if you do your homework there are usually top RBs in mid rounds.....remember Powell was a 4th rd pick...
IF we sign Cousins I’m drafting this beast at 6 if he’s somehow there, not even entertaining anything else

I saw a tweet saying, stronger than Joe Thomas, faster than DeSean Jackson, quicker than Devin Hester and jumps higher than Julio. No way he makes it to 6. But we can dream.
There's been a lot of talk about the Giants taking Barkley with the 2nd pick. But if they pass, there's little chance the Colts will. And the more I read, the more sensible it becomes for the Browns to pick him at #1 and take Rosen or Mayfield with their 4th. But who would take a RB with the #1 overall? The Browns would, of course.
For him to get to 6 he'd need to be caught in a wrecked Corvette, with a stripper on his lap and a bag of drugs in the console. Anyone here know how to set that up?
Yes. I don't care how hyped he is now, he could still be a bust. And even if he lives up to expectations, he won't have the franchise-transforming effect of an elite QB, which is the only position I'd trade up for.
