he went to the Chiefs after he left us. he started 5 games his rookie year going 1-4 as a starter, Pat Ryan was 6-5 as a starter. every season Chad played at least 3/4 of games he led the Jets to the playoffs. I agree w/ "what good is a QB who can't play?" but to have a healthy, unproductive one doesn't do us any good either.
Such an enjoyable read. Thank you hwismer for posting this for Jet fans to enjoy and reminisce about. Too bad the know-it-all trolls had to come in and NEEDLESSLY turn this otherwise pleasant share into a worthless and mirthless "who's better?" comparative pissfest. Truly some Jet fans don't deserve a winner.
Anatomy of a nyjunc post (1) Disagree with the masses (2) Constantly put on of the most below-average QB's ever to play for the Jets on a pedestal (3) Belittle any figures that disagree with point (1) as "fantasy #'s" (4) Insult poster by telling them to "pay attention"/"you don't know what you are watching"/"learn the game" (5) Generally act like a moron. This forum would be so much better without you.
You got that right, most don't deserve a winner. those thinking Ken was great don't have a clue. these are the same folks that if Ken played today would be running him out of town.
says the guy afraid to argue who just follows me around and posts nonsense about things he doesn't understand.
Actually, Kenny did not play his rookie year at all (1983). Todd played the whole year. The next season, Pat Ryan started the first half of the season and had the Jets at 6-2. Kenny started the second half and finished 1-7.
you are right, '83 was his rookie year. Ryan started 11 games in '84, they were 6-5 in games he started and 1-4 in games O'Brien started. They did start 6-2 w/ Ryan but had lost 3 straight.
Kenny O also never won a playoff game.... Ryan was the one who beat the Chiefs in 86. O'Brien had the Browns beaten though until Gastineau decided to commit quite honestly one of the worst penalties in franchise history.
Does anyone know where one could find a Kenny O jersey? I've been scouring the internet for years and have come up with nothing.
My memory is probably foggy (it was about the Pats), but as I recall, Haight was bad, but he also had bad back problems, and missed a number of games and couldn't practice a lot because of his back). I think the Jets drafted him knowing he had a bad back. Cadigan was just a flat out bust. A very bad OL. Criswell, I think was better than those two, but still not very good.
That's the joy of "ignore." Until a couple of you pointed it out, I didn't even know that anyone had ruined the thread with idiotic comments and comparisons.
Couldn't possibly agree more. That's why I have him on ignore. Just can't tolerate his stupid BS. In over 15 years of reading and posting on Jets fan sites, he's the worst, most ignorant and argumentative poster I've ever had the displeasure of seeing. He's on permanent ignore with me. Makes the site SO much more enjoyable.
it's so cute when some of our worst posters bash me. Too afraid to talk football but love talking about me.
O'Brien didn't have them beat, Ryan started the game and got us off to a good start. I think we scored 13 pts w/ O'Brien but the last TD was after a TO and a handoff on a 20+ yd run by Freeman. O'Brien didn't do much that day and did nothing in the OTs. The only way we were going to win in OT was if Cle turned it over and we got a nice return.
I loved the videos seeing Kenny O, Wesley Walker, Toon, Johnny Hector, Freeman McNeil and Mickey Shuler again. On the downside was seeing Richie Kotite, Roger Vick, Haight, Cadigan, etc. It was great seeing the Jets beat the Giants in the '88 game and seeing Tuna and Belicheat on the Giants sideline.
