first Cal alum Rodgers struggles on the road on SNF now Stanford alum Luck struggles on the road on MNF
I thought Geno was the only QB that made mistakes, while every other starter plays mistake free football? I've seen multiple poor decisions by both of these guys tonight.
*sigh* Context, bro. Context. Geno was terrible over his first two seasons. He's not Cam fucking Newton or Andrew fucking Luck. Come on, now. He's not going to get the benefit of the doubt that either of those guys get. I know that you know and comprehend this. Stop pretending that you don't. It's just silly.
When Geno starts moving chains like Cam or Luck, I promise you nobody here will bitch about occasional INT.
I actually didn't mind the Geno pick on Sunday too much, I tend to be more 'forgiving' of picks on deep balls as long as you're not already in, or close to, field goal range. That's not to say I like the pick, or forgive the pick but that's part of the risk of deep vertical passing. What drives me mad are turnovers on passes under 15 yards where QB's just make dumb ass decisions.
Yep. And people act like fans have some agenda in wanting him to fail so our season is ruined and we watch shit football for the next 10 weeks. I hope Geno turns into mini-superman and wins out. It's just the difference in being hopeful and realistic about him. Anyways though it's amazing how Carolina is doing this. As long as they have their quarterback and their quarterback on defense (Kuechly) locked up long term they're going to be a good team. Crazy how one player on either side of the ball changes the entire team even though they have talent all over that defense. They seemed like they were gonna be a bottom dweller at 6-10 in preseason.
Imagine if Cam actually had weapons outside of Olsen around him? The dude is making Philly Brown look like a stud. They can hang with anyone in this league with Norman and Keuchly on D
I understand that those guys are stars, and they get leeway my point is that ALL QB's are going to make mistakes if Smith misses a throw here and there I'm not losing my mind over it, mistakes are going to happen I can live with it just as long as the ball is moving. I'm not going to go harder on anyone just because he isn't an entrenched franchise QB.
It's not just that those guys are established franchise QBs, it's that those guys have proven to be able to make a lot more plays than mistakes. If/When Geno gets to that point, he'll get excuses made for him like the stars do when they fuck up. People are hard on Geno because they don't think he is ever going to be a net positive. It's up to Geno to prove those people (myself included) wrong.
And again I can tolerate mistakes since they all make them just as long as the ball is moving. I'll be more harsher if the ball isn't moving. That's my point. It doesn't matter whether he's an elite QB or not.
