^^ What he said ^^ I'm tickled the Pats lost. I can deal with Giants fans better than I can deal with knowing Robert Kraft has another VLT sitting on his shelf and Brady has another ring. The hell with that. Man up and deal with Giants fans. It's the lesser of two evils.
I was rooting for no one, felt nothing really hated the day overall. Being a Jet fan is a joke sometimes.
Same here, that's why I didn't watch the game. Didn't change the fact that one of them had to win, I was hoping it would be New England so all the ignorant asshole Giant fans around me would shut the fuck up already. It's as bad as the Yankees winning.
Bullshit. I don't live up there and see them. If the pats won, would there have been fireworks, honking horns and people screaming all over your town? Huh!!! If the Pats won, people would be walking around with long faces and I would be smiling ear to ear. Either way, people are going to treat Belichek and Brady as gods. Now Eli and Coughlin will be treatred the same. And the Jets and Rex look even dumber.
I was with you up to here. Yesterday has nothing to do with Rex and the Jets. We need to fix a few things and we'll be back. It would be nice if the Pats and Giants stopped getting every break known to man in the meantime, however, but aside from pissing us off it has no more to do with Rex and the Jets than it does with Lovie Smith and the Bears or anyone else.
Since when did Jets fans become bitchy, whiny, sniveling pussies? If you can't take the heat move out of the state. Seriously, I can't believe anybody could let any number of Giants fans ever get under their skin.
I never understood why some NYers don't embrace both its teams. NY is the only metropolitan area large enough to support two football teams. That gives NY two chances to bring home the Lombardi. It's not as if the Giants are usually a direct competitor for the Jets. Hating on the Giants is just foolish.
Not if you know enough Giant fans. I hate them more than just about any team in any sport, I always have.
See, the thing is, I am not a NEW YORK fan. I am a NEW YORK JETS fan. I'm sorry, but I don't want to see the Giants succeed, if it means the Jets aren't.
I hate the Islanders, I hate the Devils, I hate the Giants, I hate the Mets. Screw the other local teams. I'm a fan of my own teams. There are plenty of NYers who don't even like NY teams, why should I care about a team that I have absolutely no rooting interest for just because they play in my general vicinity? If the NFL had a geographical division setup, not one Jets fan would ever even think about rooting for the Giants. In some ways I wish NFC and AFC would go away. Give me Jets, Giants, Pats, Bills/Eagles as a division. We'll see how much that Jets/Giants rivalry takes off.
It would have been way worse if the Pats won. I really don't need to hear their nonsense for the next 6 months commenting on every Jets article. Now that the SB's over, does this mean free agency has begun? I care much more about that then the result of the superbowl. LOL at you saying Jets "fans" in quotes as if the Giants are a much bigger rival than the Pats. Any Jets fan that roots for the Patriots and that scumbag Bellicheat winning another superbowl can't possibly be a fan. It was a lose lose superbowl, yeah, but the lesser of two evils won, and I'm happy with that. Eli getting his 2nd ring rather than Brady getting a 4th is good. Last thing we need is over amped Pats fans talking about how great they are when their defense is terrible and they were lucky to even reach the superbowl.
I am glad the Giants finally knocked Kraft and his MHK patches off the public radar. The Pats spun those patches into the status of the sympathetic favorite.
This little foreign guy at work yesterday said "you have wrong hat, you need blue hat today for good tips". I said "fuck that, this is my team, this is my hat." Of course these guys only like soccer, they wear whatever hat is popular or they think will work. I guess that explains all the lime green Yankee hats you see walking around.
I actually used that analogy with another guy who said the same thing. If I knew the soccer teams in Ecuador I could have been more specific.
While I don't hate any of those teams, I do agree with your answer to those who suggest we should support any and all local teams because we live in the area. that's nonsense. There's plenty I like, even love, about the NYC area, but that hardly makes me an uncritical homer about the place. There's plenty I don't like, too. And I don't see my being a Jet Fan having anything to do with other New York teams, and vice versa, too.
I understand but the logic still doesn't compute unless - in general - Giants and Jets fans hate each other just 'cos it's a adolescent trash-talking tradition to do so. It makes obvious sense why Jet fans should dislike Miami or Pats fans - long standing rivalry against a foreign city within the same division. Perhaps some Jet fans feel inferior to the Giants because they have a longer tradition in the NFL.
