no he didnt. cromartie gave us a huge return. that was the big play. edwards made a circus catch. folk made a clutch kick. mark did nothing and almost threw it away until edwards bailed him out. ive watched it 100 times or more. its on youtube. thats not sanchez runing the kick out of the endzone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAULAxU5hCo
how many times has sanchez won in the playoffs when the team has allowed more then 24 points or more? answer: 0 It's easy to knock all these other QBs who havent won a ton in the playoffs. But they also havent really been in the position where they didnt have to do much to help their teams win. how many of the QB's you mentioned got 150+ yards rushing, there D hold the opponent to 16 or less, and still lost? heck, how many times in the last 25 years has a team rushed for 150+, Held the opponent to 16 or less, and lost? id imagine almost never, or maybe even never.
Life is too short to spend time arguing with people. You've made more than enough valid points to support your position. It doesn't matter, thankfully Sanchez will be holding a clip board for another team next season...
ohhh but those QBs are so much better and have more talent. that was the 2007 postseason and Rivers left that game TRAILING, his backup came in and led the GW TD drive. This is my point, you are looking at stats and nothing else. at Pitt in 2008 had 300+ yds and 3 TDs! team was down 28-10 in 4th qtr, in garbage time he threw 2 TDs and had a ton of yards. This is my point, you are looking at stats and nothing else. Cro's return was HUGE, no doubt about it but there was still work to be done and mark got the job done. Edwards did not make any circus catch, that was the design of the play. You just don't understand what you are watching. Not only was it by design but Mark himself called the play. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/columns/story?columnist=oconnor_ian&id=6004465
who cares? how many times has Eli done that? ZERO but he has 2 SB wins. Rivers has never done it in a game he has finished these other QBs are supposed to be MUCH better and they have much better teams around them so they should be able to take care of any teams. One of the reasons our D allowed so few points was b/c the O wasn't turning it over or constantly putting them in bad spots. :rofl2::rofl2: he hasn't made a single valid point. he has spoken like an average fan that doesn't understand the game which I assume you are as well.
You are right... you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink. I guess some people just refuse to believe whats right in front of them. for sure, mark wont ever play QB again for this team. which is comforting, we can only go up from him
Thank you Captain Obvious for the bold comment. EVERY TEAM that does not already have one wants to have their very own "excellent QB". Unfortunately, you can't just log into Amazon.com and get one. While you searching for this elusive creature, one should still attempt to field a competitive team each each year the best way they can. What would you prefer the Jets do? Tank every year to be in position for and draft the top QB until we hit the franshise QB lotto? Reading some of this stuff is giving me a headache.
talent doesnt matter when they dont execute or perform. for instance, sanchez had a great run game and defense. but it didnt matter against pittsburg because they didnt perform. that wasnt marks fault. Again, give rivers, dalton, schaub or whomever 150 yards rushing and give their opponent 16 points or less and they'd win alot more playoff games. it was a circus catch. he had to stop on dime, shed the defender(got away with a small push in fact), leap, high point the ball, the tap both toes in bounds and hold on while falling to the ground. that was a circus catch. the throw was a terrible. it was slow lofted duck in a position tough for the WR to catch.
Lol, way to dance around the point. what QB cant "take care of a team" when his team rushes for 150 yards and allows 14 points? I guess Alex smith sucked yestarday according to you because he couldnt take care of the colts? his Defense allowing 45 points doesnt matter? how many super bowls has tom brady won since McGinest/Bruschi/Milloy/Law/Seymour left town? you simply can not ignore the impact holding a team to 16 points or less has on your chances to win. The offense wasnt turning it over because they were running it 40 times a game and not allowing mark to throw the ball. which is why we were successful.
the only game where the run game was consistent and not just 1 big run skewing #s was the 2nd half at Indy, the run game was great that day but again it came down to making plays in the pass game which we did. w/ those guys are they in the game at that point? or have they turned it over a ton to prevent them from running? it was a DESIGNED play, there was nothing circus like about it. The throw was perfect, please stop talking about football. There has to be a sport you actually know something about that you can go find somewhere to talk about it. You couldn't be more wrong about this.
exactly... you want to field the most competitive team you can. employing the worst qb in football, mark sanchez, doesnt help achieve that goal
Me too but the extremists on both sides seem to have highjacked this tread. Now it has officially turned into another Sanchez sucks sucks thread.
Alex Smith made plays to win, something Peyton rarely does, Rivers rarely does, Romo rarely does, Schaub rarely does, Dalton never does, etc... Tom has been in 2 since they left and his D's did the same things in the last 2 Sbs as the first 2- blow late leads. The difference in the last 2 is they didn't give Tom enough time or they'd have 4 rings instead of 2. Our run game was not effective most of those games, maybe those teams should have tried to run more to keep those QBs from making the big mistakes? you can throw out blind #s but the only game where we had a consistently good run game was 2nd half at Indy 2010 WC.
man, we must have been the '85 Bears around the QB to be able to go 4-2 on the road in the playoffs w/ mark Sanchez. Many TEAMS don't have 4 road playoff wins in their history, we have 4 w/ mark(and I think we had 3 total pre-Mark).
no, the run game was fantastic in all those games. going by the ypc after taking away the big play is idiotic. we gave ourselves managable 3rd downs, we gave ourselves time of possesin, we kept the defense rested. running the ball 40 times, even if its for 3.5 or so YPC is still extremely effective. control the clock, control field posiitons, and protect the football. and no, it didnt come down to making plays in the passing game. it came down to cromartie having a clutch kick return and edwards making a clutch circus catch. the play might have been designed as a back shoulder play. it wasnt designed to be a complete duck that required edwards to make an unreal play to jump for and bring down with 2 feet in bounds no, it wasnt. inf act, it was really poor. a perfect throw wouldnt require the reciever to jump, high point the ball and toe tap in bounds. it would of hit him in the hands without having to leave the ground.
most of those runs were late in games trying to protect a lead. do you know what a duck is? he used Braylon's height to his advantage, I can't believe we are talking about this. This has to be a joke, sorry it took me so long to catch on. you got me.
We basically WERE the 1985 bears in terms of rushing and defense in those 4 playoffs wins The 1985 bears allowed 13 points per game The 1985 bears ran for 172 yards per game Jets in 4 playoff wins allowed 16 points per game Jets in 4 playoff wins ran for 159 yards per game Not quite the 1985 bears, but not far off. Goes to show exactly how good our defense and running game where in those wins. most teams defenses dont allow 16 ppg in road playoff games. most good teams dont play on the road in the playoffs. We never got to host playoff games at home because we had a QB who sucked so bad that our regular season record suffered. give that '09 team a good QB and they win 12 games or so
jerseyjay14 and The 1985er's comments have been pretty embarrassing. I suggest you just stop debating with them nyjunc. Waste of time. They are definitely stretching right now. What a waste of time.
right. and we were able to protect the lead because we were running it so well. had we not been able to run late in the game, the opponents would have had more opportunites to come back and win. running late to protect a lead is a good thing. anytime you can run it 40 times, thats a good thing. yes, a slow off target pass with tons of hang time. no he didnt. braylon used his height to bail out sanchez. that was an awful pass. it almost cost us a chance at the GW field goal. a good qb makes that an easy catch for edwards.
the bears in 3 playoff games allowed a TOTAL of 10 pts. our D allowed an AVERAGE of 19 PPG in the 2009 postseason and 18 PPG in the 2010 postseason. don't ever make that comparison again please.
