I would love to see sanchez restructure and stay here. This is his first chance to have the same offense for two years in a row i believe.

The narrative was--where are all the rumors?

None of this is true--ALL of it is rumors.

So since there aren't any sources, the rumors aren't...rumors?

    Sounds silly, no?

BTW, google "Sanchez" and any of those teams and there are unsubstantiated rumors about all of them.

Mind you, none of the GMs or owners or HCs of those teams are tweeting "we want Sanchez" but what were you expecting?

I think it's pretty clear what's going on with Mark Sanchez.

First off, it's very clear that he is not going to be kept on the Jets at his current contract amount. If he stays, he's not getting starter money, he's getting backup QB money, which is more like $3m - $4m.

The Jets have no reason to release him until March 24th, because he is due a $2m roster bonus on March 25th. They want to give other teams a chance to sign free agent QBs, reducing the demand for Sanchez. Guys like McClown have already been signed, and I think Vick is the biggest free agent QB still available. If he signs with the Jets, then Mark Sanchez will be off the team, straight up. They will not pay for Vick and Sanchez, it's either/or. No one will trade for Sanchez with his current contract, so he'll just end up being cut.

If the Jets don't sign Vick, due to him wanting too much money, or him not being willing to compete for the starting spot, then the Jets will stick with Sanchez. They'll pay him the $2m roster bonus. Then they will keep waiting until after the draft. By this point, teams have now used up almost all of their cap space, and they all have their QB. Demand for Mark Sanchez will be at the minimum level, and at this point, there will be zero chance of Mark Sanchez being able to get a starting job on another team. He will have to renegotiate with the Jets and they will be able to get him to do a team-friendly deal for 1 - 2 years (maybe $1m this year (plus the $2m he already got), and $3.5m next year.) At that point he has no other real options, this is his best chance to start, and he just has to say yes, otherwise he'll risk having to take a minimum contract from some other team for 1 year, and probably go to yet another team the year after that. It's definitely in his best interests to stay on the Jets, and as long as he is willing to accept backup QB money ($3m - $4m), we should probably keep him (assuming that Vick wants $6m - $8m or whatever.)

If you go with Vick, I think you sort of need to start him. He's not that healthy, and is a lot older than Mark, and if you go with him I think that's a "win-now" move (and not Idzik's style.) He will eventually get injured, and Smith will start anyway, and since there are no big playoff assumptions right now we might as well give more time to Smith to develop and have more time to evaluate him. Given that, I think it's best to keep Mark, try to get him to agree to a team friendly deal next week, and if he won't do it, pay the $2m roster bonus and come back in late July. Have some other QBs over for tryouts, make Mark realize he can be released and have to take a vet minimum deal at the last minute with no chance to compete for a spot on the other team- and then he'll have to agree to the short term deal. I know it's not really nice to do, but whatever- he'll still get paid millions of dollars, and he's already made tens of millions of dollars from the Jets, so I wouldn't feel bad asking him to take backup money for 1 - 2 years.

3 OCs including Marty. Schotty isn't horrible and has worked for a good HC for 3 seasons now in Jeff Fisher who knows what he's doing. As for Tony Sparano he was Parcell's choice to be HC of the Fins and didn't do a bad job for a rookie HC. His teams were competitive and his players liked playing for him a lot. The Raiders just gave him a 2 year extension as OL coach when their policy is to give Asst. Coaches one year deals. Again how many OCs do we give Mark. We should change them every year. Because it's their fault not Sanchez.

He NEVER had Marty!!! Are you also one of those idiots that continues to spout he's played in the league 5 years?!?

He didn't PLAY in his 5th year.

Do you not realize he was hurt in preseason IN HIS FIFTH YEAR AND NEVER PLAYED FOR MARTY?!,

    TWO OCs.

Schotty sucked and Sparano should never have been an OC! What is wrong with you people? You have enough ammo to claim Sanchez sucks but PLEASE don't tell us he failed under Marty Morninweg.

    Geebuz.

Actually I remember nothing attached to a reporter's or columnists name; something with at least a modicum of journalistic standards. Internet chat, in and of itself, is worth virtually nothing. The reason I asked today was because virtually every starter in the NFL has been talked about this week whether they're staying or going. Sanchez has apparently been under radio silence. Maybe there's stuff I missed.

You are purposefully disregarding things you don't want to hear and giving credence to fluff you prefer to believe.

That's typical and it's okay. We all have our own bias and you have yours.

I think the jets are trying to trade him. With Fitzpatrick being cut and seems clear the jets are comfortable enough to go with geno. Time to let mark go and sign Fitzpatrick as a back up
