when was that proven? when we threw more in 2011 b/c we had to not being able to run? and w/ 3 of his top 5 weapons entering that season being out of football by the end of that season? I think if Pete had a better OL he'd want Mark as a backup but w/ their mediocre OL it may not be the best fit. lynch and Wilson make their OL look much better than it actually is.
there is a huge difference between playing flawless and throwing yet another pick to a DE. Mark is perhaps the worst QB in the short passing game in the NFL now that Tebow is out.
You're delusional I agree with the bold. It logically makes no sense. If Sanchez separated himself from Geno then there is no need to play him any further in the preseason.
it was all about Idzik and the sham competition, if it was up to the coaches mark would have been named starter and we likely make the playoffs.
Yeah I don't know where these Sanchez fans came to the conclusion that he "hands down" won the competition and things like that. It was dumb enough to put a potential starter in the position that they did that ended up getting him hurt, it would be complete insanity to put in the guy you 100% decided was going to be your starter in at that position. It just wouldn't happen. At best the competition was pretty even and it was possible Mark would get the nod considering he has NFL experience and Geno didn't. That's hardly "hands down" it's more like a tie going to the runner.
I think Sanchez probably would've started week 1 had he not have gotten hurt. But to sit there and tell me that Sanchez "outplayed Geno badly" is absurd. They were neck and neck and I even read that Geno was the favorite because he had a better camp.
Geno looked like a QB not ready to play in preseason and that carried over to the reg season. How could anyone think that he was close in the competition?
Sanchez threw a pick 6 to a ROOKIE D-Lineman in his first throw of preseason.....he is jsut not good enough. Geno is progressing. This is Geno's team now, Sanchez is done.
Teams don't waste QB snaps with the first team in the preseason for the hell of it. This is an obvious fact. If it were a fact that Geno "wasn't close" in the competition he wouldn't have been starting preseason week 3. That is obvious logic. Only a Sanchez fan could try weasel around obvious facts and logic to attempt to paint an alternate version of reality. One more thing. Teams don't put in QB's who obviously won the starting position with 3rd stringers in week 3 of preseason. Another obvious thing Sanchez fans refuse to acknowledge.
Because Mark Sanchez looked like a QB not ready to play in the pre-season and he'd ended the two previous seasons on low notes? I don't see why this is so hard to understand. In December 2012 Mark Sanchez threw 1 TD pass and 8 interceptions. He had 12 turnovers in 4 starts in December. He was rightly benched for the 5th December game but his backup got hurt and so he was reinserted into the lineup. Then he came out playing loosey goosey with the football again right away in training camp. This isn't hard to understand. If Geno Smith is turning the ball over next year he's going to lose his job very quickly. And it's only his second season. 4 years of not understanding your job is enough to get anybody fired.
Classic Junc, lacking any empirical information to retort falls back to the old "you don't know football". it's clear Junc that you do watch football, it's also clear that you watch it in the same way that a caveman would watch a jet fly... said would caveman know the jet flies but would not understand how or why it flies. The same could be said, I'm beginning to gather, about your watching of football
Played well in a new system he was learning becoming comfortable. His first offense with a really good coordinator. Lets just overlook that fact. Can you image Geno with Sparano?
how funny is it that you bash me for saying that then your reply is the exact same thing. his first OC was good and he played well under him.
There will always be "what if" excuses. It's kind of like Junc proclaiming the Jets would have been in the playoffs this year had Sanchez been QB instead of Geno. Pure conjectural hyperbole with nothing to back it up other than hot air.
