Are we really trusting Mac to build around Darnold?

We just drafted them last year as Rookie's, but yet you're already talking about "losing them" to "Free Agency"? Wow.

But nonetheless I couldn't care less, if Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye as our exciting SS/FS dynamic duo of an NFL Safety tandem do for us, what Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor did for Seattle's Secondary, Defense and Franchise?

Well then we could lose them both to Free Agency and as a fan I'm 100% confident that our entire fan base wouldn't lose any sleep over it nor have any regrets or complaints.

    Unbelievable.

Winning or losing will have nothing to do with Bowles. Players win or lose.

Huh? Bowles personally has blown about 7 games over the years and that is being generous. Maybe back in the day players had more responsibility in the game planning when they use to call their own plays. But they don't do that anymore with rookie QB's and we even have a need offensive coordinator. No one on this planet has any idea what kind of offense he will run. He probably has no idea. remember this is a guy who's heart wasn't into football anymore and took a sabbatical for 4 years. He is also a guy that got fired after 1 year. So not a lot of warm and fuzzy with that guy.

Some people can see that far in advance, the homers kinda only look further than their noses. Come free agency you may not want either of them back. So there that other option. You also have no idea what the Jets salary cap will be at that point. We might have another Mike Tannenbaum in charge and the cap is capped out every year. Football is fluid and these kids might hold out and force a trade, price themselves out of the Jets budget or have major legal issues. Who saw Muhammad Wilkerson falling out of favor so quickly. Did you forecast that homer? Didn't you have a different screen name for this site at one time? I wouldn't put them in the Thomas/Chancellor bracket just yet.

Don't agree. You overrate coaches. Good players make good coaches.

Exactly right, who needs Coaches..the guys should just huddle up run the end around , QB draw or throw a bomb to the fastest guy on the team ...(Repeat same plays for 4 hours)

While we are at it lets get rid of all the Refs.. after all they are all such good players!

after the game Mom and Dad take everyone out to MacDonalds

That’s not the case all the time, 2012 Kansas City Chiefs had 6 Pro Bowlers and were 2-14 under Romeo Crennel. The following year with Andy Reid taking over for Crennel they went 11-4 and made playoffs with same roster.

Last years Jaguars team under Doug Marrone made playoffs with the same roster that Gus Bradley couldn’t get to .500

Gus Bradley went back to being a DC.

These HC get paid good money to make a difference as well, sometimes the HC is just not good enough to do the job.

Fact is we won’t know for sure if Mac is building a decent roster unless the Jets bring in a different HC and see what he does with same personnel.

Some here are underrating the impact of what good coaching can do to a team.

I wish that I could somehow wave a magic wand and conjure up some potion to give to Bill Parcells to make him 20 years younger with the condition that he coach the Jets for at least 10 years.

With Sam as the QB it would be an interesting thing to watch.

Maybe but I think that is impossible with Bowles. He had a good team his first year but he couldn't pull it off because he blew some crucial games. This with Fitzpatrick having the best year of his career. Good players also couldn't overcome Rodgers defensive calling. Rodgers had 4 first round players on his DL and yet they generated no pressure the QB had all day to throw and receivers were just running crazy in the Jets secondary.

    No.

But what other choice do we have?

Back-to-back 5-11 seasons (doesn't quite have the same ring to it as back-to-back AFC Chamionship game appearances) with no mandate to make the playoffsin 2018.

It seems like he's here to stay so cross your fingers and hope he figures it out.

this is my reply, sent to the team, in response to an email they sent me:

no wonder we have been waiting 50 years foranother trophy!

really dumb trade. you only got a 3rd for teddy, and had to give them a 6th? stupid!

a smart organization would have offered him an extension, kept him up to october trade deadline,

and either traded him for a 2nd or better, or kept him as next year's starter/veteran backup.

clevevland gave up a 2nd and 3rd to cincy for a.j. mccrimmon ! and. he was alsoa fre agnet at end of year.

problem over 50 years with jet's front office: always buy high and sell low

i type at rate of one letter every 4 minutes, not exactly my best skill. ;)

They all know the game. The difference is the quality of the players. That's why they hunger for draft choices.

This is NOT the NBA where coaches are just there for the ride. Good coaching makes a world of difference in the NFL.

Well the NFL isn't a bastion of intelligence, logic, and fairness, so anything is possible.

It's true that players make a huge difference, but how can you say that coaches don't have the biggest impact? Especially in the video game we call the NFL, where coaches micromanage every little thing? Jesus, they put radio receivers in the QBs helmet to make sure they coach gets to influence every facet of the play! I remember when Roger Staubach was criticized as not being a complete QB because Landry called most of the plays. How far we've come (sunk)!

Bowles has screwed up more than a few games all by himself, let alone the ones screwed up by his position coaches. If coaches are so superfluous, why even have them? Is it a collective bargaining rule?
