With the injuries we currently have I can’t think of a worse team...at full strength probably bottom 5 at best
NFL equivalent of a controlled burn, even if nothing about the actual play suggests even the smallest amount of control.
We are the worst team in the league and I don't think it's close. Combined with our tough schedule this year I cant see us picking outside the top 3 and realistically the #1 overall pick is a huge chance.
You reckon Gase will get another contract if the team goes 4-12 or 5-11? No chance. He's already gone it's just a matter of when.
This is rhetorical question, but - If he's already gone, why the fuck are we waiting?? What is the purpose? It isn't a similar situation like when we had Bowles and there was no HC experience under him on that staff.
Good question, I assume because the person/people who signed him up in the first place are still holding out hope he will be the guy and haven't come to the realisation or accepted the reality yet that he sucks.. Him being gone is just my opinion obviously but I cannot see a way he survives this season. Might as well ride it out, let the team dive to a top draft pick and give the new coach/Douglas some assets to build with. Hopefully it doesn't result in players bailing in the meantime.
The scarier prospect is someone like Lawrence opting out of the draft to avoid the Jets. Being a number one pick is like walking the plank but there’s a difference between the plank ending at the deep end of a swimming pool vs. the middle of the ocean.
I don't really know much about college football but I will say two things, firstly there have been plenty of highly touted, home-run QBs who don't translate to the NFL and secondly Darnold could still be the guy for us if we actually build a team around him. He hasn't looked good but he is dealing with absolute pus both on the oline as well as his offensive skill players. He is also still quite young. He won't end up being a HOF calibre QB but neither are Goff, Foles, Flacco etc
you forgot to mention as well failing to score on pretty much every high priced FA signing as well over the past decade.
The Jets really fail in all phases don’t they? Horrible drafts. Horrible free agents. Horrible coaches. Horrible owners.
The good teams rarely if ever splurge in free agency. They extend their core guys while letting go of tier 2, 3, and beyond players who are replaceable.
could go winless but that's not the worst part. The incompetent dickbags are ruining the first legit QB that team has had in 50 years.
For the first time in years there is literally noone on this roster that I would feel horrible about losing, Sam included. I'd prefer that not to be the case but oh well. At least in other dredge years you at least had someone on the team that you could enjoy watch playing... Marshall...Decker...etc. This year id rather watch those ghosts that Sam sees out there playing.
While a legit concern no doubt..but as incompetent, poorly ran & self destructive the Jets have been, If TL passes on going #1 overall to try to turn things around for New York,he wasnt the guy to begin w. Jets need that rare breed that embraces the challenge & takes it head on
Worst team in league is a certainty. The better question is are we the worst team of all time? The season will play itself out but looks very possible after first two weeks.
Realistically there are what, 4 games we can circle that can be MAYBE wins? Miami 2x, LAC, and Denver. Outside of that I can't see us winning any other game. There is a shot we could be the third team to go 0-16...sad
I don't think we can beat the Chargers. We might be able to beat the Browns, though. It will be more Jets-like to win the (seemingly impossible) next three (IND, DEN, ARI) and get to 3-2, then never win another game until the finale against NE, just to drop us 4 spots in the draft.
