Very true. To me this is not really that big of a surprise, all teams do these sorts of things to various degrees of success every week. That is the purpose of all the film work that these teams do. Unfortunately, it becomes much more visible when you get beaten down. To your first point, all you have to do is look at those great Cowboy teams with Aikman and Smith. They only ran a couple of different plays, and most times teams knew exactly what they were going to do. Stopping it though was an entirely different story...
yeah i announce right before our snap most of the plays everyone looks at me like im crazy but its pretty easy to read now. and as far as passing goes if you stay within 10 yards of the LOS your likely to be 2-3 yards from wherever the balls going anyways.
I think we need to get rid of the no huddle and a lot of the shotgun gimmick plays and line up with an attitude and try to beat somebody running between the tackles and using play action passing. I am sorry, but Curtis could not run in the offense it is too passive in the running game.
I have an idea on how to fix this. Chad should start making his audible calls in "Ubby-Dubby." Nobody's spoken that since, what, 1974? It could be like when the Marines hired Navajo windtalkers for the Battle of Saipan.
I have no idea who stole schottenheimer's creativity this year. I am not talking about gimmick plays with B.Smith at QB (of which there haven't been any I can recall). Rather, there is less pre-snap movement, predictable plays and nearly zero play-action.
To run the kind of misdirection the Jets ran last year you need pulling guards. The Jets have the worst guard tandem in the NFL at this point so that's out. To run play action you need an effective running game. Out. Pre-snap movement is fine, but to what effect? The Jets used it last season to setup screens more than anything else and right now the opponents are laughing at the Jet's screens. There's a real problem on offense and I don't think they're going to be able to fix it midstream. Given the obvious problems on defense I'm starting to think 3-13 is a real possibility.
Yeah! I totally noticed that and commented on how the announcers even know what we are doing. That's terribleIMO and Mangiini and staff need to take note of the situation. We really are the laughing stock of this leauge.
Everyone in the League got a copy of the tapes.... LOL, But as a previous poster said, I also noticed times where Chad screamed playcalls and the MLB started Barking Audibles and they knew exactly what we were running.... Now, If the 1 strength Chad has is his Brain and that's being taken away now, this CS needs to step up!
I am sure you are talking in part about that audible where the LB started screaming and even pushed the D-line towards the Jets RT/RG, then the Jets ran right into the defense. How can Chad not see that the D is moving right into the gap for the RB and call a timeout or audible or even just goose Mangold for the three-yard sneak. Chad started losing his accuracy down the stretch last season and seems to have lost a fair amount of his decision-making accument this season.
On offense and defense, they fixate on fooling people. They get suckered into running what the D sets them up to run. They constantly react. On both sides of the ball. They need to do their thing, whatever that is. Run what they run well. If Chad can't run it, well......
Every single time Chad changes the play he changes it to a draw play. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I never remember Chad changing the play and it actually being a positive passing play, or a passing play period. I know every time Chad changes the play its a draw up the middle, it doesnt take a genius for the Giants to figure it out.
