If I were them, I'd rather play the Jets.

I just think it's wrong that the NFL is presenting the Vince Lombardi Trophy to the Patriots in Foxboro on the field before the second round game. I mean, we all know they are going to win but I think it's in bad taste, they really should wait until after the Super Bowl.

I think the Pats already have an easy road to the SB..They only have to win 2 games at home where they have not lost any all season, against teams they have already beat except KC..I think every game is different and so is every year.We can throw out what happened up to this point we are all 0-0 starting this weekend it will come down to who wants it more. It's time for the jets to go to Indy and win and if we do that the confidence level will be so high they can go and win in any stadium just like the 2006 Steelers did as a 6th seed..

The Pats defense is not that good, granted it's better than week 2 but still far from great.
The reason they look better than they are is Brady,he puts up some many points so fast he forces teams to become one dimensional and then the defense knows other teams have to throw the ball to win.Take a look at games when the Pats were tied or behind even in the Green bay game, the packers went up and down th field with a back up QB and that was only a few weeks ago..Game plan the Pats don't get down by more than 10 points and i think any playoff team can beat them..JMO

No that's it. I was rooting for KC so much this weekend because it would mean a Ravens-Colts wildcard with two teams entering but one team leaving. The Titans almost helped there too but fumblelitus took over.

I think the Ravens and Colts do match up best with the Patriots. While the Steelers and Jets are tough and will be tough outs, we do match up better against them. I think we could take KC either way.

I was gonna make a thread for this but I'll put it here...

This is the exact case of losing a game early on in the season that has the potential to come back and bite you in the ass!

    Mon, Sep 13 vs Baltimore L 10-9

This one game changed the tiebreaking and records for the 5th & 6th seeds.

    @ KC/@ Pitt
    vs
    @ Indy/@ NE

But, In order to be the best.....

I'm a Patriots fan and all of my buddies are patriots fans.

In my group of friends, I'm the only one who thinks the Jets would have a chance against us. I tried to tell them that if you are on a team that got your asses handed to you 45-3 on National TV, you will absolutely be fired up out of this world for a rematch with that team. They all called me crazy.

If the pats are to lose in the playoffs it will be to a team that

    1. Controls the Clock (Jets are capable of this)
    2. Has a good running game (Jets are capable of this)
    3. Plays good defense (Jets are capable of this)
    4. Has at least 35 minutes of possesion (Jets are capable of this)

That being said, if we do see another pats-jets game on January 16, I still have confidence the pats will pull out a win, but any fan, whether jets or pats, that thinks NE will dominate NYJ like the last matchup is nuts. The game IMO would be about a 7-11 point game. That doesn't mean the Jets are NOT capable of coming into Foxboro and getting a win.

Another reason I dont want to play you guys is that, as has been mentioned in earlier posts, is that a loss to NYJ will hurt a lot more than a loss to Baltimore/KC.

Anyways, this weekend I do not plan on cheering for any teams in particular. I look forward to watching the Greatest playoffs in all of sports to kick off this weekend and hopefuly just watch some great football games.

Best of luck in Indianapolis, Jets fans

    Good post Boston.

Most pats fans are lacking in common understanding of anything non-pats related.

I'm glad you acknowledge this fact.

The Pats want the Jets. The Jets want the Pats. The whole world wants Jets Pats. It will not be a repeat of that Monday night.

No doubt the Pats are pulling for the Jets. They just beat the Jets 100-3.

Thanks man, I just joined today. I can't stand pats forums because everyone is a homer there and 80% of threads are about "Brady is the best QB ever" or "BB is the best coach in history"

I like to talk football with non-patriots fans because most of them are homers.

Also, I'm not the type of fan who comes on a board and writes stuff like "JETS SUCK PATS ARE #1 HAHAHA".

    I just wanna talk football

Since there is no playoff prediction thread I'll make this one it.

Not trying to be a dark sider here but I think ...

    Colts def. Jets
    Ravens def. Chiefs
    Packers def. Eagles
    Saints def. Seahawks

    Ravens def. Pats
    Steelers def. Colts
    Packers def. Falcons
    Saints def. Bears

    Saints def. Packers
    Ravens def. Steelers

    Ravens win it.

    Just a hunch

I really don't think a team that went 14-2 with 9 victories by 10+ points really gives a shit who they play in the playoffs.

Good post, and I agree with you. There are no "gimme" playoff games. Don't worry about your friends thinking you're crazy. Obviously you're smarter than them anyway.

The only thing that you may be missing is that if the Patriots do end up playing Indy and losing to them, it won't be because of their running game. It'll be because Manning is capable of putting up points and keeping stride with the Patriots' offense. The Colts are more than capable of beating the Patriots in a shoot-out. Not saying it would happen, but they're dangerous.

Any other team would have to win the way you depicted it, I think, with a good running game and huge TOP advantage.
