This is exactly what I'm afraid of.... Take it a step further and watch players who were previously on the fence about qb situation start getting influenced by the tebowmaniacs.
The schedule may be frontloaded but a team capable of going 11-5 doesn't start 1-4 because the schedule was tough. I could see the Jets starting 1-4 and then maybe recovering to 9-7 with a miracle.
No? Perhaps not. But a team that is installing a new offense with a ton of extra pressure on their young QB might falter early until they pick it up. Particularly if 2 of the first 4 teams we face are the steelers and the 49ers.
Why is there so much hate for Tebow? I don't care if it is Mark or Tim who gets us wins. Al Davis said it best:Just win Baby. Also who cares about the media?
Fans basically are idiots so I would hope that Rex and Sparano judge Sanchez on results. That said, lets hope Sanchez plays well, if not then Tebow will no doubt get a shot. To me, I expect a pretty dominating defense this year. Sanchez cannot turn the ball over as much as he did last year. One thing about Tebow, other then the Bills game last year, he does not turnover the ball.
Um..yeah he does. He doesn't throw many INT's but he fumbles a lot. In 14 career regular season starts he has 15 Turn Overs (9 int / 6 fumbles) and he put the ball on the gorund another 7 times in those starts. Yet another myth perpetuated by the Tebots. While not bad numbers they aren't as great as everyone likes to pretend they are.
First off to make it clear I'm not a Tebot (whatever the hell that is), I am actually a Sanchez supporter. I've always maintained, it takes a special talent to win four road playoff games in two seasons. That said, if he doesn't limit his turnovers, it will cost him his job. A conservative coach like Rex is building a team to win with superior defense and a conservative offense. That philosophy is right up Tebow's ally.
Here's an interesting take... This was posted last January, before the trade. Going by this, Tebow would be an upgrade over Sanchez. Not saying it's a slam-dunk, or even compelling, for instance, one could argue that at least sometimes, YAC is due to the QB making the throw that allows the receiver to extend the play. But I do find this interesting.
I don't think many Jet fans will be rooting for Tebow. But there will be Tebow fans who will do so, to be sure. Maybe more on the road. The real question is whether the Sanchez Fans will be given much to cheer about. I think if they are not, they will be quiet, and when things are quiet with them, you will hear more, in relative terms, from the Tebots. In other words, much, if not all, will depend on how well Sanchez does. Many here seem to think that will be an either/or situation, but of course it is quite possible Sanchez will have a year somewhere between mediocre and decent. Not awful, but not great, either. If that occurs, it will be interesting to see what happens.
Interesting theory... The Tebow trade was a ploy to get Jets fans to stop booooing Sanchez? I like it.
Just more cherry picked statistics and formulas to prove Tebow has been winning since God made Adam. If the formula was AFC Championship appearances over GQ covers, Sanchez would be very high in the rankings.
I don't think the Sanchez Fans were the ones booing Sanchez. If he sucks he will still get booed, but not many Jet fans will be rooting for Tebow.
I don't think it will happen. In Denver they had Orton who was taking the team no where year after year. Sanchez has had success that Orton never has. In Denver you knew there would be calls for Tebow but all I ever hear on Long Island anyway and on this board is that Tebow should not start. I'm sure some will call for Tebow if we start off slow but it won't be as overwhelming as it was in Denver.
Don't be an idiot. That's not what the analysis said, and it's certainly not the conclusion I drew from what I quoted. I never said it "proved" anything at all... just that it was interesting (in a "moneyball" sort of way.)
The Jets FO isn't going to listen to fans being retards. No offense, but if you are a Jets fan and chanting for Tebow (hoping Mark fails) you should probably be taken behind the barn and shot. Unless Sanchez plays terribly early on, that will not happen. Mark is the superior QB by far and I believe he remains our starter all year.
I agree here. This is my biggest problem with the Tebow trade. I understand if Sanchez crumbles and there appears no other avenue other than replace him with a backup. But to use a QB that was dead last in completion pct, can't hit the broad side of a barn and simply has poor throwing mechanics....I don't get it. Question here Barcs, Why does your sig reflect Sanchez having the 5th most TD's in 2011? He was 9th. Am I missing something?
OK dipshit, so what happens when Sanchez throws his first 3-4 interception game? You really wouldn't consider putting Tebow in for a second? Get real.
