certainly not... although that is clearly the goal - if we win the AFC east, season isnt a failure, we havent done that in a long time - making it back to the championship game, and losing, not a failure - making it to the superbowl, and losing, not a failure - one and done in the playoffs, with that one being an ass whooping of the pats, not a failure
I think anything other than reaching the SB this year will be a disappointment, if we make it and lose a tough game it will be a successful season and another step toward that SB title.
It's funny- as a sports fan, all I ever wanted was a chance at the playoffs, and a team full of players I like to route for. I hoped to go into the season with fewer holes than the previous year, and maybe get 9-10 wins so we could get to the playoffs. It was fun routing for the team, even though I didn't think the Superbowl was a realistic goal. The last two seasons have changed that completly. Now this isn't fun, it's work. It would be a travesty if we did not make the playoffs. Honestly, if the team made it to the Superbowl, would I consider the season a failure? probably not... It would sure hurt though. At least that would be progress from the past two seasons anyway. I really feel like in this era of Rex, Tanny, and Sanchez we are going to win one. I've been casual fan since the 80's and a serious fan since about 2000, and I have never seen a core group of players like this before. I'm used to FA pickups like Donnie Abraham, Reggie Tongue, Chester McGlockton, Derrick Blaylock and Curtis Conway. I'm used to old vets getting paid $6 mil a year on 5 year extentions at age 32, like Marvin Jones and Mo Lewis. I'm used to losing 10 million a season in dead cap space. I'm not used to this new Jets Era, and I love it. Anyone using the SOJ line has no clue what they are talking about. This is very much the Brand New Jets, and I love it.
It's not even debatable. And if we are fortunate enough to get to yet another AFC Championship game, we will have all sorts of pressure on us to break through.
yes with all the talking rex has done since day one, knocking on the door two years in a row. the 2nd rd pick for a 1 yr rental of cro. the vets we signed last year that was a SB or Bust run also we are now flirting with early 90's Bills territory. plain and simple time to fucking win no excuses and showing up for half of the AFCCG
If you go deep again in the play offs, I think it's a success. Then again, I'm a little biased. The Jets have been built to be solid for several years, so if you don't go all the way this year, the following year should also look good.
Yes. You cant come off 2 AFC Championship game losses, while showing you can beat Manning, Brady and Rivers, and think anything short of a SB win is acceptable.
Anything short of a SB would be a dissapointment, however, this team is built to compete for years to come.
Technically, yeah, it'd be a failure, since the Super Bowl is the goal every year, but do I expect them to win? Well, FA isn't over yet, but at this point, no. They're a lesser team than what they were last year without Cromartie and Edwards (obviously Aso would change the picture quite a bit), we probably can't expect another great start from LT, and the Patsies got better with their acquisitions.
I'm gonna be blunt and say yes, it would be a failure. Though, it all depends on who is on the team come the start of the season. It's expected at this point.
I hate Super Bowl or bust. Bust implies tear it all down, start all over. If they got there and lost, it owuld be really disappointing, but would it be a total nightmare?
