As Chris Rock says about people who are in a hurry go to college after just earning their GED "Slow down; it's obvious high school was kicking your ass."

Dude, you didn't remember the game 5 hours ago, then you posted some shabby metrics.

I told you I didn't remember all of the specific plays, because I didn't watch the game 5 times like you did and it was fucking preseason so why would I care. I remember that he played well overall, made some nice throws and I was optimistic he could be a good backup. Then he shit the bed when it counted, what's so hard to understand?

"Flawless" doesn't provide much wiggle room. It would be much easier to prove he was not perfect than it would to prove he was.

And what has Sudfeld done this offseason?

    4 catches for 33 yards.

Sudfeld played today and had 2 receptions for 18 yards. Pantale came in and had 3 receptions for 74 yards.

Granted it's a tiny body of work, but tonight players were playing to make the roster and Pantale showed he should. Will he over Sudfeld? Likely not, but if you go by his body of work tonight, he sure as hell played like he should.

When you jump to catch the ball against your chest it means you have no confidence in your hands. Given what we know about Hill at this point why would anybody think he's an NFL receiver? He obviously doesn't.

There are lot more things wrong with Hill's game than just the confidence in his hands. There's been successful WRs that catch with their body and/or drop a lot of balls. It's his ignorance to the nuances of the position that will ultimately get him cut.

Nope. And that's the problem. People are saying we need receivers, but we need NFL receivers, not guys who think they are NFL receivers. An NFL receiver goes up after the ball and brings it in with his hands, something Stephen Hill does not do. When you watch quality NFL receivers, you can feel the trust the QB has in them. If you throw a ball up to Eric Decker, I can guarantee you he will muscle his way up and try and bring it down. Can you say the same for Hill? As a fan, would you trust Hill to catch a ball in traffic? Now put yourself in Geno's shoes. Would you trust Hill to go up and get your pass?

That's the problem. The lack of skill leads to the lack of trust. He's toast. When the quarterback of your team looks the other way even when you have separation, there isn't any other answer. That said receiver needs to go.

I miss the days of having players I couldn't wait to see play. Chrebet. Keyshawn. Curtis. Coles. Jenkins. Revis.

It's frustrating having players that make me cringe when they come into the game. Hill is one of them. I'm left waiting for that one horrible drop that costs the game.

Yeah at this point he really shouldn't play but the WRs are so dreadful he should probably be on the roster just on the off chance miracle that a light goes on for him at some point this season and he either learns how to catch or at least do some of the other things that he still sucks at. He'd be a waste of a target at this point, even if he can take the top off a defense they know Geno will never throw it toward him so that defeats his whole purpose in itself.

Yeah but that's a hard decision to make. Let's say you cut a guy like Saunders to make room for Hill. Let's say we are in a game and Hill is wide open again, like he was in the New England game. Would you honestly want Hill there or Saunders? Would you trust Hills hands over Saunders? Even with the small amount of work we have all seen in Saunders, I would trust his hands over Hill's.

You can waste a spot on the roster in "hopes" that he pans out, or you can fill his hole with a guy who is young and has much better hands. Yeah, we need receivers, but do we want Hill as a target? You have to honestly ask yourself that question. Do you want Hill to be the guy you throw a ball to when you need a completion?

Not to mention, if Hill is on the roster, is he really a weapon on the field? We have all seen how Geno doesn't even bother looking his way half the time, so is he just wasting space? Would a guy like Saunders get more looks from Geno?

It's a tough position to be in for Idzik and Co.

Wilkerson, Richardson, probably Milliner. Chrebet was never much better of a receiver than Decker is at this point and Amaro could become a pretty awesome TE within a year or two. Pryor will probably beast in a rex D sooner rather than later. Ivory and CJ2k should be exciting and Geno is the best chance we've had at QB since Pennington's body fell apart assuming you don't count 12 games of Favre. I think the team is actually pretty exciting, just the backups are for shit WR2 is for shit, CB2 may or may not be for shit and 2 spots on the OL will probably be shaky one way or another. That's a good foundation for the future and if nobody significant gets injured from here on out this team could make a little run this year.

I'd just can one of Gates or Salas since they're both dogshit but Salas' probably stinks less. Throwing Saunders on the PS isn't really a big deal either, I don't see him being anything more than a gadget player this year, unless hell freezes over and he could be a starting slot then you kick Kerley out of his best position to be WR2. But is that lineup really better than Decker Nelson Kerley? Seems like a lot of risk for minimal reward if it even worked, which it wouldn't.

No I agree with you...there's many really good and exciting players to look forward to. I just wish we didn't have ANY players that make me cringe when they come into the game.

You just (20 minutes ago?) spoke in pretty specific detail about something that you apparently don't remember in very specific detail.

What's hard to understand is why it matters so much to you. Aside from the me-factor. I'm beginning to figure that part out pretty well, though.

He did shit the bed, though, and as I promised, I will stop with the Simms stuff. If you'll allow me.

I thought to myself too - he looked like he was scared shitless when the ball was coming his way -

Eric Smith, Wayne Hunter, ~15 guys not named Curtis Martin when Chrebet and Keyshawn were playing. The team has always sucked, right now there's a light at the end of the tunnel but it's definitely going to still sting some this year. With a little luck maybe we'll get a few truly good years after this.

What is this light you speak of? Is it anything like our supposed depth?

I hope not. Only idiots would've said we had any depth coming into this year though. I'm sure there were quite a few that did on here.
