Do we really think in one game Hill can erase all this time of essentially being inept? He can't run and catch. The ball hits off his chest because he doesn't catch with his hands. He jumps when he doesn't have to. It's like he needs velcro for the ball to stick. Ryan and Idzik have no ownership of his draft pick. We don't need to keep him because he was fast before the knee injury. Hakim, who Ryan said we are keeping, has run a 40-yard dash in under 4.2 seconds so there's your speed. Granted he's not as tall as Hill but Nelson and Decker are. It's time to admit the experiment failed and cut bait. He's being featured in tonight's game so the Jets can get some sucker to want to trade for him. I'd trade him for a ham sandwich.

    LOL

Yeah, one preseason game against twos and three's will make or break his career here. Give me a break. I don't give a shit if he goes out and finishes with 200 yards and 3 tds. It will be against back up players. We all know how he performs with starters. One preseason game against backups is gonna magically turn his game around and secure him a spot on the roster?

If that's the case, this team has major issues. I hope to God our front office isn't making their decision based on this game haha

We've praised NE in the past for cutting players a year early instead of a year or two late.

Exactly why we cut Cro, and exactly why we're cutting Hill.

The NFL is too competitive to waste roster spots on players who can't get it done, whether it be a once great vet or a 3 year guy taken in the 2nd round.

And that's why Rex, who just came off a draft cycle, never heard of Victor Cruze who shredded the Jets for like 19 TDs.

Neither did the rest of the league.. Hell I have friends that went to UMass at the time that have never heard of him.

You're assumptions about the draft process are so far fetched it's unbelievable.

As Byz said earlier, this game will be played mostly thru the air I think. Simms has the arm and now we're told he's added "touch" so its on Hill to run good routes and get open. I do wonder if they're gonna keep it vanilla on offense and go GnP mostly. I hope not.

Hill needs a bigger game than Salas. No doubt there. Imagine how they'd have to spin Hill's spot if he makes the roster after Salas has the better game. Meritocracy supposedly is what the Jets are about now so they're gonna have to back that up with actions. Not the bullshit they fed us this summer about the "QB competition" either.

Hill has more embarrassing drops? I just can't see how they justify his roster spot without going against the competition mantra. Perhaps the real competition is between Gates and Salas with Hill on the outside looking in.

I think Hill is gone no matter what he does for one simple reason. Forget about what the coaches see or feel about him and he wasn't Idzik's pick. The quarterbacks just do not trust Hill to make the necessary plays. Nothing is more telling than that. Game after game, including regular season, he has played a ton of snaps yet rarely sees the ball. Receivers with less raw talent like Nelson, Salas and even Clyde Gates see more throws. If Geno doesn't believe in Hill then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or how Hill performs tonight.

indeed - and in the tech heavy world we have, and have had since the 90's, i dont think draft success has improved over the results teams had in the 70's and 80's.
    really amazing.

    Traded?
Idk you really think we could trade Hill, what would we get out of him? Logan Mankins just went for a 4th rounder and a backup TE, Hill might get us a 3rd string long snapper as long as he plays special teams.

At least Lankster and Walls have more experience...whether I'm satisfied with them is not the issue. What is the purpose of creating a topic so full of holes in it's theory? Did anyone in the Jets org allude to Hill moving to CB? Has there been any coverage by the media making a push for Hill to CB? I don't get why this topic deserves a dedicated thread.

No way and no how do the Jets even think about making this type of move this late in the year. It's counterproductive and will only weaken what they already recognize as a position in need of help.

I think best case scenario we trade him to a team for their bust. Happened with AJ Jenkins and Jonathan Baldwin last year before the season started.
