Namath: 1. makes a horses' ass out of himself trying to swap spit with Suzy Kolber. 2. makes a "we'll win the Super Bowl" guarantee in the face of a 17-point underdog, "NFL-centric" media. Cute as she wuz, I'm sure Namath banged nicer 'toliets' than Suzy along the way between January, 1969 and whenever that horrendous sideline interview took place...I'll take #2 for the 'ultimate' win, Alex... jmho
This whole Namath nonsense this week (especially with some of Sanchez's nonchalance towards him) reminds me of when Mike Piazza called Keith Hernandez 'a ghost from the past' after some on-air criticism of the team's effort. That was probably the only time I ever got annoyed at Piazza for anything, granted there's still some difference between people inside the locker room and outside the locker room but when it's a former player leveling the criticism you at least have to respect it somewhat. Especially when in Namath's case Sanchez plays the same position, I'd think it would behoove him to take some pointers. It's not like Namath's trying to tell Bart Scott how to tackle.
AbdulSalam, I hear you but.... Namath had already played a few years; and won a "one-point" game to begin the Jets' Super Bowl year; a 20-19 win at KC (a team that beat them--and won the SB--the next year). Namath directed a 6:00 minute kill-the-clock drive to keep the ball out of Len Dawson & Co's hands to seal the win....note: this in KC, one of the great "home field advantage" stadiums. I love the 2010 Jets. But, Joe & Co's opening day "six-minute-game-ending-drive" was pretty ballsy. Btw, Youtube has that great Namath-to-Maynard deep post pass completion.....the pre-Dan-Marino/Joe Willie 'flick' of a 40+ yard strike..... .....Mark? Granted, you're a kid, but I DO hope you saw that particular video......the 'skip' backpedal footwork...the downfield 'flick'..omg...sweet!....
Awesome Joe. I like Sanchez and I'm w/him 110%. But he needs to focus on his job and not worry about what the media says and what Namath says. Same w/Edwards etc. Don't talk about it, go out and put it on the line on the field and get the job done. chirping in the media or tweeting is all BS. Its time for Sanchez to shut up, play hard and not worry about the media bs and Vets like Broadway Joe. Believe me, Joe Namath is 110% behind these guys. But he calls it like he sees it. Its up to Sanchez and Edward & Co. to go out and take care of business.
Joe Namath joins 1050's Michael Kay to express his disappointment about the decision to play Braylon Edwards this Sunday night against Miami. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-yorkjet...h-4?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
To answer the question posed in the title of this thread: YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's just not enticing.. Even if he had interesting and worthwhile things to say.... Even when with the Jets in Hardknocks they didn't listen to him.. As he rambled on, they started talking about his party days..... GO AWAY JOE!!!!!!!! We haven't heard from you since the Brady Bunch and now all of a sudden you want to be a voice about the Jets... Sorry to say but.... BEAT IT OLD MAN.
you were correct, my apologies my breaking point was this drunk trying to preach about the stupidity of drunk driving ... yea, im sure youve never had a few and driven, joe
I heard the interview, and found it hilarious that they use Joe Namath as the voice of reason in a drinking issue. Sorry Joe, but it was you who once embarrassed the Jets with your drunken show on MNF hitting on Kolber. And you are going to lecture Edwards? Laughable.
Love Joe for what he did for us but so over what he thinks he doing for us today. Ambassadors never talk bad about who they're representing, never.
Yeah, my patience with Namath is running a little thin. Even though he has a point to what he's trying to say, with his past transgressions it's kinda the pot calling the kettle black. He needs to realize his comments just fuel the fire.
and all the Jet haters can use him to hate on them more. the thought is 'if namath said it then i can too and it must be right'
