Exactly! It'd be nothing but MAN-GENIUS! Etc. etc...He made the correct call. But the hindsight is so predictable since he didn't get it.
I disagreed with the call to go for it on 4th. I scratched my head. But you know what. I also said "WOW! Mangini's got some balls on him" and although it ended up being the wrong decision I liked the fact he showed willingness to take the game into his hands. Sure it failed, but hes establishing an MO for this team, one that I think weve been waiting for, for a long time. I also told my friends hed be eaten alive in the media for that call, but nobody will mention how nobody expected us to win games this year and weve lost to the Pats and Colts by a total of 10 points. both of those games decided in under a minute.
Exactly...and maybe...JUST MAYBE...Mangini was being honest with himself thinking that today...there was no way the Jets were stopping Manning. Now thats no way to coach...but Im sure coaches have thought that in the past..and kept to themselves yet still coached as if that were the case.
John Madden said it best. If you don't like the call to go for it on fourth then you don't like the call for the onside kick earlier in the game. Try and tell me if the Colts get that onside kick and score with a short field you all wouldn't be killing Mangini on that one too.
the 4th n goal wasnt a bad call at all, it was a good move which didnt go our way, plus we dont know what would have happened in OT if the game was tied at 31, anyways it was one of the most thrilling games i have ever seen back n forth....good job mangini and shotty and special team
If the call works, we won the game by 1 if we're going to use hindsight logic. If you don't think your team can get 3 yards, then we sould just punt it on first down every time.
I would have been very happy but I still would have called it a dumb move. It was a different time and situation in the game.
