I have to agree there. A lot of the throws that Flacco made this off season were to receivers that by definition would not be classified as open but they made the play. Boldin, especially, made some ridiculous grabs. We don't have a receiver on our roster capable of making those kind of catches. That Jacoby Jones TD throw was a great example of the WR making the QB look good. It was a grossly under thrown ball. Jones made a tremendous adjustment then put on some great open field moves to get into the end zone but most people will just come away with Flacco throwing another TD.
I also think this SB should put the arm strength debate to rest as both QB's looked like they had howitzers for arms and were throwing lasers to their WR's.
Was there a debate? Kap played great but that INt what should have been another and not being able to get his team in the endzone cost his team the game. Kap is definitely a star in the making.
People were actually debating that? Arm strength certainly not an issue with either QB. I knew Flacco could ball, but Kaep really impressed me at times. Some real pretty pin point passes during the game.
I think the Jets needs to look at the 49ers and Ravens as examples of how we should build our team. Defense with a great running game, tough physical receivers and a tough and rugged QB. Our defense is good, we just need a OLB, and hopefully that Bush and Allen can develop into good safetys. Hopefully we can retain Landry. We need a good MLB with speed maybe Davis can develop into a good linebacker. As for offense, the QB needs to be upgraded, we need depth to the oline, and better WR play, and a bellcow at RB.
Last night's game was awesome! That was great football, I loved it. What I loved most about it, was the fact that I could just sit back, relax and watch a great piece of history unfold right before my eye, without causing me any angst, anxiety or frustration. The only crappy super bowls for me, are the ones that feature the patriots. Once they're gone, I know it's going to be a great game for me to watch.
H'mm lets C the Ravens passed by RR to hire Harbaugh & OTH our bright owner decided that RR was the right man for the job. Now Harbaugh comes to the Raven & is quiet as a church mouse & becomes a SB winning coach whereas RR brags that HE guarantees a SB win & the last 2 seasons misses even the POs. I wonder which owner was smarter the Raven or NYJ owner is the question?
That's why you constantly bring in young talent and good free agent talent. I do think one of (if not both) Allen and Bush will be good NFL players. Hill shown signs that he can be a good player, Powell is already a solid player.
The Ravens owner knew what he was doing that day. Harbaugh is and always was the better coach than RR could ever be. Getting a coach who knows both sides of the ball, or a one sided wind bag who is clueless on how a pro offense runs. Woody has sunk our franchise with keeping Wrecks. Our clueless owner that was born with a silver spoon in his mouth that has no clue how to build a successful franchise for the ultimate goal of winning the VLT. The NFL did us no favors approving this moron to buy the team we love. We had Leon Hess for years of loosing clueless football, then he was replaced with Woody. More of the same
I agree. It certainly seems that with more experience, Kap will be a very successful QB in this league. You can see it in his demeanor. It was his inexperience in the 4th qtr that more likely than not, lost this game although I still think that if the 49'ers had showed up in the first half, they would be champs today. I had no idea Kap had that kind of arm strength. He didn't look like he was throwing all that hard either.
It was really nice to see Wr's get hit in stride. Flacco threw a few short passes that if they were a bit longer, would have been 6pts easy. Having Boldin as a safety blanket sure helped and that kid Pitta is bonifide.
Thanks to Art Model the Jets didn't have to deal with Peyton and Brady in the same division every year.
That's what I'm saying. These were these teams second conference championship appearance in a row, both relying on running/defense primarily to get them there, both getting a shot at the SB while when we were in the same position, failed. SF did against ATL what we couldn't do against PITT, complete the comeback. Then seeing Joe Flacco take over a postseason and get markedly better each year culminating in a SB, that was depressing. That was supposed to how we finally won a SB with Sanchez, but it went away after the 2010-2011 season
Their QB also got better and better each year in part due to himself and his confidence. He hasn't made a big "jump" like Rodgers did, but Flacco has improved year in and year out. We haven't seen "lost and confused" Flacco in a long time now.
Mark Sanchez could be surrounded by the AFC prowbowl team and he would still not win a Superbowl! He is not good period end of story. With an Avg Nfl QB the NYJ would have one at least one SB the last few years!
Last Superbowl i watched was the Panthers vs Patriots I use to check in and out in case they were good games(like the 1st Giants/Pats superbowl), but the last 3 years i haven't watched any of them at all.
