2 weeks back I would have agreed about the Foreskins. However, with Cooley AND Moss hurt, we have no business losing that game. They also have no run game. Torain is overrated IMO. Our only problem is going to be TOs. We can't afford to throw picks because guys like D Hall and Atogwe can run them back. I think we should run the ball all game. As for Kansas City, they are the weirdest team in the league (well maybe the Saints). I thought they'd be way better and at times they look really good. Then they go and lose to scrubs. I agree with you though, they can be dangerous.
Tebow's running ability vs our man-to-man defense will cause us issues. I could see that offense giving us issues, at least at the beginning of the game. I expect to win that game, but Tebow can do some things that will frustrate us. I don't think he can do enough to win the game, though, eventually, we'll figure him out.
Good chance Moss is back. Torain isn't the runningback there anymore, it's Helu, who caught 14(!) passes yesterday for 105 yards. That said, the Redskins are awful. The defense isn't bad, but the offense is a disaster. They shouldn't be able to score.
If he takes off a bunch I hope Dave Harris telegraphs a big hit right to his dome. When he's on the ground in a fetal position the entire Jets D can surround him in the infamous 'Tebowing' stance.
I don't think Helu will be the RB by the time we play them. He caught 14 passes but he also made some really dumb mistakes including a big time fumble. I live in the DMV area. Its amazing how devoted their fan base is. They are absolutely hilarious. The crazy part is,as bad as Beck is, he's still better than Grossman. I hope they bring back Grossman for our game vs them!
I hope that our Lord and Savior will make Tebow regret that he has worshipped a false idol and see the error in his ways and make up for them by donating a couple of picks for Revis Christ. No way Denver wins the game, short week or not.
Ya think? Along with a 3 game road trip starting in Oakland, then following up with two of the best teams in the league?
Jets need to take a LB and use him as a spy on Tebow. You are correct, with the Jets man-to-man coverage could create some big runs by Tebow.
he's a lot less likely to beat you on an open receiver than he is with his legs. I think 90% of the jets gameplan will revolve exactly around that. Jets have shown they're very capable of playing mixed man and zone anyways. Who says they're not going to go man to man on the receivers and then have their linebackers play zone? It'd be one thing if he could make the throws, but you can focus so little attention on the intermediate to long passing game that you can concrete on stopping the run and him taking off.
i'm sorry, that's a stupid assumption. the jets do play a lot of man to man but they mix just as much zone in to confuse the opponent lately. They'll also show zone and play man or show man and play zone..and often that doesn't happen until the play is already developing. Tebow hasn't shown he has any clue what defenses are doing yet and i bet he's going to be confused as shit. He won't even realize what the jets are actually in until it's too late. your assumption is predicated on the fact tebow can actually read the coverage properly. if Tom brady, ryan fitzpatrick and phillip rivers can't do it you really think Tebow can? They play man because so many of these quarterbacks around the league can win the game with their arm. Against tebow, you're going to see a heavily modified gameplan
Tebow is a gimmick quarterback, who will take off and run, and whom the Broncos have modified the playbook for accordingly. The Jets are predominantly a man-to-man team, though Rex has shown the ability to adjust in certain matchups. This will have to be one of them. In 6 career starts, Tebow has rushed for 59 or more yards in 5 of those games (and in the other, he was 6 for 38). My assumption is predicated on the Broncos calling a lot of run plays, and a conservative gameplan with gimmicks with Tebow running a lot. Tebow has put up significant rushing totals in pretty much every game he's ever played in, and he did score against us last year. By issues, I mean, they'll move the ball for a drive or 2 early and look like they can move the ball a little bit and string some first downs together, mostly running the football. Then they'll revert back to being the Broncos. But you can't see having to prepare for a mobile QB, who plays so differently to every other QB we've played, with half the prep time, on the road, could be a little problematic early in the game? I don't know if the Broncos have the talent to score TDs when they're in the red zone. I fully expect us to sack Tebow at least 5 times and turn him over at least twice. But I think there could be an adjustment period early in the game, and given how slow our offense has started this year, I could see it being a tight game around halftime. I'd be shocked if he beats us though.
Why am I constantly thinking of that Winston Wolf quote whenever I see these schedule and projection threads after a big win?
Why would the NFL have us play a Sunday night and then on a Thursday night? Hey, at least its not a Monday night game!
What? So you must be playing a Sunday night game prior to a Thursday night game? You probably misunderstood what he said
Didn't realize everyone who played on Thursday nights also played Sunday nights. Especially since the Jets are the only team this season who do that.
People keep saying this and worrying about time to prepare, but what about Tebow's time to prepare for this Jets defense? He is screwed!
So why arnt the Raven or STeelers playing this Thursday evening? I'm just saying, we always seem to have an extra hurdel to jump over. Or I'm just a synical Jets fan?
Yes, I misunderstood. Those 4 hours make a huge difference. I'm more concerned about the travel and the elevation, but on the other hand we're playing the broncos.
