I'm not so sure I want to see Marshall in Cromartie's Playpen Marshall makes a living off of breaking tackles.
I though coleman played a great game, killing that screen, the tackle to take out faulk, and more importantly he did not get torched
Cromartie's game is tailor made for Moss. Moss doesn't run too many change of direction routes. He relies strictly on his speed and height. Two things Cromartie can match.
While Cromo on Marshall might not be favorable you gotta remember Marshall is their only damn receiver. So we can stick Cromo and Pool on Marshall all day then boom their passing game is gone. I wouldnt be surprised if hes able to play vs the fins. But then again we got the bills the week after so maybe theyll just give him 2 weeks off.
this is what I was saying throughout the week, particularly in the "should revis cover welker" thread. Cro will have trouble with the speedy change of direction types like Aaron Hernandez and Welker, he can shut out the tall quick guys like Moss, and probably can handle some of the more phyiscal big guys. In the second game, I wouldnt be shocked to see Cro on Moss and Revis shadowing Welker
Why is it at least once durring each defencive outting I see Cro sliding around or lying on the ground? and at times he just looks lazy like he gives up on plays, am I the only one that feels this way? But he did look solid in the second half for sure and I think he can/will be a great asset on every down if he can get motivated dont forget they have Davone Bess aswell, he's showed flashes of greatness
Last week I said that Cromartie would match up great against Moss and everyone disagreed with me. Glad he stepped it up but I was just as impressed with Wilson.
Cromartie has given up a bunch of receptions to Marshall but for an average of about 10 yards per catch over the course of their matchups. Not much room to break tackles in that. And only 1 TD.
Tall, lanky players often look like they're running at half speed. It's a function of their physiology. Guys with short legs have to move them a lot faster to get the same relative speed as guys with long legs. Cromartie has a really long stride and so it looks like he is loafing until you realize that he's keeping up with very fast (albeit shorter) people that he is covering. Randy Moss only got behind him once in the 2nd half and part of that was their feet colliding which caused Cromartie to fall at the end. Moss, BTW, has a reputation for playing at half speed as well and that's also because he's freaking huge with long legs.
I liked what I saw from Cro in the second half. He really stepped up with Revis being out and im actually a bit surprised they didn't just match up him on Moss the whole game and give him safety help over the top Welker seems to kill us a lot more then Moss does so why not have our best cover corner on him? Also, yes I realize Moss never does anything against us because Revis blankets him but I feel like on a play such as the td he has Cro would have had an easier time keeping up with Moss then Revis.
Wow you can't come up with any decent facts besides the past to prove your point? Just because you have lost less games doesn't mean you are a better team in September 2010. That's just stupid.
Two picks in two games. I am guessing he will have one or two more next week if he is matched on Marshall for the entire game.
Cro's never picked off a pass when he was matched on Marshall and lord knows he's had plenty of opportunity. He did pick off a pass against Denver but that was against Royal. Thinking about it some more and I think maybe the issue is Marshall's ability to change directions suddenly. Cro has trouble covering a guy who can make lateral moves in a hurry. He's more of a run with them guy who then overpowers the throw at the arrival point. I didn't look at the big game Marshall had on Cro but I'm guessing it was a ton of quick outs and short slants. That's what would give Cro fits: a tall quick receiver who knew where the ball was going. The performance wasn't 10 catches for 250 yards it was 18 for 166. Edit: if the Fins send Marshall deep a few times on Cromartie then yeah, he could pick off a pass or two. That's not how Denver used him in the matchup though.
Hopefully Henne won't be as effective at getting Marshall the ball as Cutler was. Cromartie still looks sloppy with his play. He's sliding and flopping all over the place a lot. His saving grace is his athletic ability. He can't be giving up 8-10 yard passes all day to Marshall. I think Cromartie will do well defending the deep ball, but not the intermediate routes. Cromartie will have to get some help. Thankfully the Dolphins don't have a Welker-type WR. If they can stop the run and double team Marshall, they'll have a good shot to win.
