i have to admit you stole my thought on his best moment for the jets being his WHIFF of shonn greene.
Jeez two seasons ago we had Landry Bell Revis and Cro in the secondary, now we have Millner Wilson and Dwan Landry, wtf happend.Great plan by the Jets orginization.Normally you assume the team knows better then the fans, not when it comes to the Jets
You don't think Revis is to blame for that? He priced himself out. Laron Landry was sort of overpaid, and Idzik as a first year GM decided to let him go, and will most likely get a comp pick (3rd-4th rounder) out of it. Bell was okay, but not irreplaceable by any means. Cro is most likely declining and past his prime.
don't get me wrong I get why he had to be released but I hope we bring him back at a reduced price.I still have faith in Cro if he is healthy
Yea I know how stupid,There's zero stability on this roster. Its been a rotating door for years. You don't see teams winning anything this way.Over paying garbage talent, letting great players walk or be traded, undermining there Qb by brining in Tebow,Creating a media Circus for years, yea and I'm dumb. The Jets got the fans right where they want them again, everything looks hopeful, will have a good year this season and collapse the following.Does there track record prove anything other then that?I have high hopes but I'm an idiot for having them. But until i see years of consistency its hard to belive that there finally getting it right
What are you talking about? Lol. The only one that possibly could have been kept was Laron Landry, and Idzik didn't want to overpay a guy that while good, has some flaws, and is pretty injury prone as well. Idzik knows how valuable safeties can be since he used to be with Seattle, and even he didn't think Landry was worth investing in.
Really?in the Rex Ryan Era so many players have come and gone and most have never been replaced by anybody special.I can name over 35.And I don't blame Rex for it or John Idzik. So I hope we really start to get it right this year because this is a make or break type of season in a lot of ways
I don't see how you can consider this a make or break season. The only thing make or break this year is Geno, and even if he becomes the guy, there's a lot of work to be done to the team in most major position groups. We're a team that went 8-8, was arguably worse than the record indicates, and even with that said probably overachieved even with the talent level we have. We're still getting out from under the weight of the Tanny contracts, and will be depending on a lot of young players, rookies, and journeymen to shore up the roster. We're a team with questions at the WR, OL, TE, LB, CB, and safety positions. Even if we draft well and Geno works out, we're a ways away from being serious contenders.
Yeah. It would be much better if we kept all of them and spent close to $40 million a year on four players in the secondary . It IS a great plan by the FO to get younger and spend less on the secondary.
Yea in a passing league with Tom Brady in our Divsision Our Secondary is among the worst in the league. The Seahawks won the Superbowl with there secondary being beyond elite, and we wouldn't have went to back to back AFC title games without Revis. So yea your right the secondary isnt important
I'm a bit surprised about this myself and I don't like it. Cro had a down year so this is an ideal time to resign him. He will likely rebound to solid form, if not spectacular. Meanwhile he would give us veteran leadership and depth. Fact is even with Cro we were shallow at CB and drafting/signing another CB only puts us back in the same situation. Of course, who knows what we will actually get even if we draft a CB. It will take a year, min, to develop that player. Meanwhile we get to watch that person get burned all season. As an aside, does anyone feel like the player shopping has been taken out of Rex's hands almost entirely? Rex has had a hard on for CBs for his entire career. Idzik comes in and Revis is gone (no brainer really). But now Cro is not only gone but likely not coming back. it is starting to feel like Rex is being told to "win with what we give you or you're gone." I'm making some assumptions here, but I can start to see this picture emerging.
Due to his high cap number, it was expected but I am still upset to see him go. He played with his heart all the time. I hope he signs back with the Jets but it doesn't look likely.
Last year's acquisitions: Rex Guys: Dawan Landry, Antwan Barnes. GnP Guys: Chris Ivory, Willie Colon, Mike Goodson. CB's: (kept) Antonio Cromartie, Dee Milliner. BPA Defense: Sheldon Richardson. I think John Idzik and the Jets brass have gone overboard trying to give Rex the pieces he needs to do a good job. Last year Rex took those pieces and did a very good job with them which is why he is back.
