He takes chances on goodson and vick(who he doesn't even want starting). Cro was an easier signing, a safer one, no one wanted Cro, whoever gave him a contract he was going to.......
Yep, you saw him play 60 games and he gets no credit for the playoff runs and wins,,,,none.. And Geno Smith out of college was an instant upgrade, right?
Who cares about INTs? The Cardinals came into this week DEAD LAST in the NFL in pass defense, and they've literally faced two good QBs. They're worse than the Jets' secondary
Did you even watch him play his last season here? Did you? Geno could have gotten the 09 and 10 Jets as far as Sanchez did given the weapons and protection those teams gave Sanchez.
And you're acting like Cromartie is a big reason for that, which couldn't be further from the truth. They've played two legitimate QBs all season. Paper Tiger
Your acting like there pass D is bad because of him. Here the bottom line....He 3 times better the any CB we got. Can u disagree again with that?
Just to pile it on, PFF has Cromartie as an honorable mention on their midseason all-pro team (good for a top 5 spot in the league). I know hindsight is 20/20, but jeeeez. And to think, Cromartie and Patterson got about the same money...
This is total horseshit. Cro and Mark have good games and the naysayers come out screaming bloody murder. Both guys deserved to be cut.
Holy shit.. I just got really excited when I saw this thread but then realized it was from months ago... Fuck!
Cro was worth the 1yr/3-4M contract he got. From the get-go he looked like a much better choice than Dimitri Patterson
Cro over the guys they have now: no argument. But he wasn't in their plans coming off of a poor season. Maybe there were other reasons, too. If he was on the Jets this year do you think things would be different. I doubt it. He'd still be giving up the same big plays our current no name guys are doing.
Good point. And the Cards are usually playing from ahead in their games, so that would tend to make them passed on more often. The nfl.com ranking having them listed last is based on their yards per game number. Fine. But for ypa, they are mid pack at sixteenth. With opponent's qb rating, they are 25th, with first being worst, at 83.1. Completion percentage again is midpack at 19th. But in the all important points allowed per game total, they are way down at 28th, with first being worst, at 19.5. They are also tied for first in interceptions at 12. Their total pass attempts against per game number is 3rd at 40 attempts even, which relates back to their being ahead most games. Teams have to pass on them to try and get back in the game. Adding up their first in interceptions, points per game allowed, opponents Qb rating, and ypa, I would average them out as about 10th for their pass D. Solely focusing on yards per game is, in context, a misleading stat.
Complete and utter homeristic nonsense. Cro was hurt last year, but it was not a chronic condition. He is not hurt now, and is playing well. That would not translate into better play if he were still on the Jets? Why not? There has to be some limits to the FO homerism here when the team is 1-8. Doncha think?
I also note that I cannot find a stat on Cardinals' opponents' qb ratings, but I do note that they have faced five teams that are over .500, and are 4-1 in those games, all while generating those stats I quoted about their Pass D. It should also be mentioned that their 3rd ranked run D also encourages opponents to pass on them. In short, yards per game passing allowed is, without additional context, a very misleading stat in assessing their secondary.
